NC is purple. that said, it's very interesting that the Dems are beginning to make inroads in the upper south, especially as blue staters were cast as elite, latte drinking tax and spend tree huggers.

The GOP needs to get their act into gear.

I agree...I don't think NC or VA for that matter are blue states but they aren't red states anymore either. The changing demographics of these states has made them swing states. My question is, how does the GOP counter this? If they go back to their roots, will that be enough to shift democratic momentum in these states?
