At one time they were useful.....Now they just incite and feed racial division. You can't ever look for equality if you still have a system setup for inequality.
I don't think so...Obviously things are better than they were before, but there are still problems. I think that they will become less relavent at that time.
Where is the turning point? It can't be productive to keep policies like that in place as equality advances.....
P.S. I don't think racism will ever end by the way. Even as children humans gather together in their own groups....obviously there are some different examples.
You know what? This is very healthy, I am glad that we are having a civil discussion about race. This is what we need to recognize different points of views, share thoughts and experiences, break down stereotypes, understand different perspectives, break free of ignorance and get over it.
It starts really small like this and I'm happy about this thread
I don't think that racism is past tense. I especailly saw alot of it this primary season as the democrats spread it around. I frankly has only heard someone like the REv. WQright in white racist leaders speaking in documentries. He almost seems to get in a trance like thoise hitler speeches against the Jews .

i think you are answering your question...if you think racisim will never end then we haven't or never will reach the turning point.
I don't think racisim will always exist. Young kids always seem to play together with no problems, until they are old enough to fall more under the influence of their parents and other surroundings.
This election,I think has made some people reveal themselves as racists, even though up to this point they didnt think of themselves as such
Yes, I could not believe all of the people who strictly voted for Obama just because he was black. I am not talking about black people either. I met so many whotes that absolutely said that they voted for Obama strictly because he was black.
Untied Anglo Saxon College Fund? The National Association for the Advancement of White Slightly Colored People.... How do those organizational names make you feel?
I can't really think of anything more insulting then to tell a whole race of people they need special treatment to catch up to another race. I had the leader of the local EEOC state to us that African Americans needed affirmative action to catch up to white folks so they were not so far behind. I would hope anyone thinking rationally would be absolutely offended by this notion that one race is inferior solely on the reason their pigmentation is a different color which has nothing to do with someones intelligence.....
So you are decrying today's "special treatment" of one race while ignoring the "special treatment" that race has received for 400 years or so. No logic in that. It has nothing to do with actual inferiority. It has everything to do with the fact that blacks have been TREATED as inferiors. I am not inferior to anyone. But my family and I have been treated as such, legally and socially.
