I keep hearing 24/7 how conservatives and even moderates are dead and gone the way of the dinosaur in American. I find this to be pure nonsense. If proposition 8 did not confirm this for you, I dont know what will. California is a very liberal state.
84% of all Americans practice some form of Judaeo Christianity.
Most Americans (like 85%) fall between the slight-left, Moderate, to slight right) about 7% are extreme to the opposite ends of the spectrum.
Most Black Americans, are not flaming liberals, they are socially conservative and have conservative values. I said most, not all.
This election was really not About McCain, or Obama, or about America suddenly becoming a flaming leftist nation. It was about Bush and getting as far away from him as voters thought they could.
So, in conclusion here, if your guy, Obama screws this up, goes too far left, tries drastic changes to the constitution, or so on, it will be one and done. And history will chalk it all up to a great experiment. If he does well, then the country will THEN likely start leaning left. Until then, keep your pants on, we are not "San Francisco-style nation!"
Anyway, your attempt to speak logically here will not sink into their twisted skulls.
I think you set back to anything logical he said! That is really the epitome of the problems with the Right. When you guys can get it together and keep it together yourselves, the Left will come back to the middle to meet you halfway.
Liberals do not think straight, ie logical, they think with their feelings. See, women use emotion more since that is their strength. Men use logic more since that is their strength. But in the Dem camp, they men are feminized wimps that have assumed some feminine characteristics, including trying to think like women. They do this to get along with the feminists and be their buddies. Barf. Anyway, your attempt to speak logically here will not sink into their twisted skulls. Try using emotion. They respond much better to attack, but CD is not the best place for that.

Aren't you the same guy touting that one Zogby poll and then claiming McCain was actually going to win because all the other polls were wrong?
We're a fiscally conservative couple. We don't vote party lines. Something we took note of was the GOP faction that came into office during the Clinton administration, the "Freshmen Republicans" that became the "Neo-Cons". There was a shift in Washington that helped set the stage for the irresponsible spending and insatiable greed of big business. It seems the "Hard Right", not all Republicans (of course), are the ones that need to regroup.
We voted for Obama, not because he's a man of colour but, because he's focused, intelligent and aware. He stayed on the issues and I believe he'll show up and work hard every day.
I liked McCain more before his campaign hired the same people that smeared him in 2000 and "swiftboated" Kerry in '04. I wish he had stuck closer to the issues, his message got lost because his campaign was so erratic. I don't think the GOP is dead but, I do think they need to do some housecleaning and reexamine priorities.
You're basically right, Carolina, but that's why all the scaremongering about Obama was so silly to begin with. Even if he were some sort of crypto-Marxist, he would know perfectly well he didn't get elected to pursue that agenda.

Thanks for the post.....if they say it enough they (LIBERALS!!!!!!! not liberals) tend to think it's true.
I just hope this is the freakin' wake-up call to our Republican party to stop pandering to the religious right, clean up our government spending, make better foreign policy decisions, and get our act back together. If McCain was really the best candidate we could put up for prez, we need a lot of help. We need a party we can be proud of instead of a party that simply reacts to the left-wing wackos.

Sorry but I don't find your sentiments here credible or worth taking seriously. You failed to recognize the obvious during this campaign, like every McCain supporter, so my advice to you and the rest of the people who failed to see Obama as the great man that he is, is to "do more, talk less."
The world has moved forward and left behind the very backwards ideology that defines the Republican mindset. This country suffered over the last 8 years and actually REGRESSED. All Republicans need to come out of their cocoons, go back to school, and spend some time getting to know and respect people different than themselves.
Don't worry about Obama. He will be an incredible leader for this country.
