That's pretty hard to do if you live in a high-rise condo in the middle of a big city. Folks in a big city are far more dependent upon cooperation with each other to provide for their basic needs. They NEED the water, power and sewer infrastructure the government provides - as well as the cooperation of their neighbor the grocery worker, the truck driver and the power plant employee.

And those urban areas shouldn't be forcing their agenda on the rest of the country's inhabitants.

The reds control most of this country's land and resources. The blues simply consume.
this red country would also have no money, virtually no beaches, and be subsistence farmers. and there are plenty of farms in oregon, california, ny, pa, va, nc, and new england.

for what it's worth, the map looks pretty blue as it is...

besides, the blue states would just merge with canada

[rep points to the person with the exploding butterfly maps, i was looking for one of those to post, but you beat me to it]

There is a general law I ascribe to: the higher the population density, the more socialistic in nature the people who inhabit it will be. Accordingly, every single county that has a population density of over 1,000 people per square mile went to the socialist candidate.
Which socialist candidate?

That's the nature of Democracy. The US population is now mostly urban (as displayed by the maps showing all the blue).

Exactly. California alone supplies something like 30% of the nation's food (or a bit more--can't remember the exact stat). I think we'd all be just fine.

Barack Obama. Democrat is the legal name of the party, but the hard line left wingers have essentially hijacked the heart of the party 35 years ago.

What do you mean? We'd have oil, coal, vast timber resources, agriculture, gold, silver, and more. Take note, please, of the counties in CA and other states that went blue in the electoral vote, that are red...many of the agricultural areas there, are red. You don't seem to realize how much the red states have. Alaska alone has enormous resources.

Tyranny of the (slim) majority. Leads to civil war inevitably.

You're forgetting that you wouldn't have Alaska. Have you forgotten that Alaska has its own secession movement? Remember, separation from the "lower 48"? Not the "blue parts of the lower 48".

Trust me. They don't want you. They're thinking they'd do just fine on their own.

And meanwhile...I heard someone on here today said Texas should be its own country...

Mighty organized movement you've got going on over there. When should we start worrying?
