Yes, there is a rather big difference between CU's and marriage.

CU's do not give ANY access to federal rights/benefits.
CU's do not automatically transfer state to state meaning just because you have one/are married by CU in Kansas does not mean Nebraska has to recognize it or will. Neither are CU's even options in some states.

The first difference is huge because the last number I remember is that that then excludes gays and lesbians from some 1000+ federal rights/benefits. It also should be said that Mass allowed gay marriage but in a huge breach, thank you DOMA, that marriage is not recognized by the feds meaning it didn't get them much as of yet as far as rights go.

When did I say I knew what he thought?

Evolution destroys any argument you have for gay rights.

I didn't make it up...thank Darwin. We would still be an organism in the warm pool if it wasn't for reproduction and natural selection correct? Do you disagree with Darwin?

Yes reproduction is it....If you don't believe in heaven of course. Unless you only obsess in the pleasures of the flesh without accepting the consequences of that pleasurable act.

This was an exit poll, (anyone could have and probably did vote) there is no proof in what was stated in this poll. The poll was conducted by the AP and not by the registrar of voters, since you don't have to disclose your race on your voter registration application. Do we truly know that this is not just a ploy to turn the black and gay communities against each other? I say watch what's being said by the press. The AP released information about Prop 8 and there were 2 million votes that had not been counted.

It's a civil right issue. The USA is a not a Theocracy, there is separation of Church and State. The State is trying to get in the way of people having the right to marry who they wish between 2 consenting adults. It's discrimination. Especially since gay couples are allowed in some cases to adopt children, they deserve the same rights and tax breaks, insurance, legal authority ect.. that straight couples have so that they can be a family unit at least by law. The moral issue is infringing on their civil rights..freedom of religion.

What are the percentages of gays who really want to get married FOR the term "marriage" only vs. the "benefits" that a married woman and man get to claim?

Are there really 1000 rights/benefits you receive just from getting married? Someone needs to tell all the "about to get divorced" heterosexuals about that one.

Why should gays be allowed to get married? States say "between a man and a woman". If states vote against gay marriage, why should the Federal government get involved? That's like crying to the Principal b/c you don't like what the Vice Principal told you. B/c the gays aren't getting their way? Deal with it or be happy to take more states rights away from the states...socialism is that way...over the Atlantic -------->

You want to live outside of the box...find a way to do it and stop bothering me. And I say this with my best friend (since I was 3 years old) being a gay man. Even he agrees with me and had huge issues with heterosexuals fighting for the right to a lifestyle they have no clue about. Gay Hollyweird is only one example...YOUR gay friend/relative is only one other example. The Gay world is huge and seedy...and that's according to a gay, not me. So when gay marriage is "legal" you're going to see marriages last about 2 months. The gay "boy-toy" isn't going to take any more crap from his gay "sugar daddy"...because now he has a legal right to HALF! And it will go on and on. Courts will be tied up for years. I don't know anything other that what I hear from my gay BF...and he KNOWS what he is talking about.

According to my Gay...American gays act like children in a candy store (majority of). All party, all hook-up, all dangerous "interactions" (lest I get another "infraction"). The ones who have settled and are happy with themselves and where they are...aren't all hung up on the word "marriage".

Just curious but what are these rights people claim they get from getting married. Under Obama if you are single the cap on federal taxes is 200k (well at least at first which is what we will go with) But married couples it drops to 250k or 125k a piece....

The death tax is going to increase....

The only thing I see is medicare/SS for spouses....well sure promise people the program that's most likely to fail....(well at least until UHC comes along)

Someone please point some benefits to me? I admit I'm naive on this one...

why are YOU so hung up on the word "marriage"? it's not a term exclusive to the Church; marriages are performed both in churches and by the gov't

plus, it's just easier for them to say "we're married" then, "we're civilly unionized" or whatever

This is grand!

The Liberals just don't get it, once again!

Most people live their lives conservatively.
