I'm sure this too has been beat to death, but what do you think? I say within 18 months. Iraq needs to s--t or get off the pot. They also have their own money and it would be nice for them to use their own and not ours.
You can't even venture a guess? And BTW, who takes the blame for that deficit that you mention?
Let me guess.
I'm guessing they will milk that time frame for as long as possible.. The full 18 months or however long. Then, the troops will all be shifted over to Afghanistan.

You know what? I would agree with sending them there. That's where they ALL should have been in the first place. Not looking for phantom WMD's.
Yup, so now the thought is to shift the party next door to Afghanistan, a country even more backwards with a much more difficult mission based on numerous factors. How many of our troops have to get blown up by IEDS and other engagements such as being attacked by the very people we are supposed to be training. When then does the body count become unnacceptable? The economy already far usurps what concern we have for the deployed troops. We already operate under a stringent Rules of Engagement policy and when we do try to take out targets and unfortunate collaterial casulties arise then the MSM and their followers scream. The whole Afghanistan operations policy is being reworked and no doubt after January will be tweaked even further. We already hear from numerous sources that that just by merely throwing more bodies into the fray will have negligable results. Hence, the promise to date from Obama to shift a few token brigades there carries no weight. The actual troop levels and associated costs far exceed what the US can monetarily afford or stomach. So, please armchair warriors and tacticians don't just blindly be so willing to extend the war for the reason that it is where we should have been all along. To do it right will not be pretty and staying there for year after year will not cut it either. If the Obama supporters really feel Afghanistan is where its at and worth the bloodshed then by all means enlist now. The army will take non prior service recruits up to the age of 42 now. This way you can join me there upon my scheduled deployment in early 2010.

I think they should come home now.
By announcing that the military is going to be slashed, and that we're leaving, we're only risking lives at this point. It's going to become extremely dangerous for our guys there, and we're leaving Iraq to it's own or to Iran's defenses anyway. This put them in a very precarious situation.
well im here now and this sh t sucks.i mean day after day going out on a mission and wondering if it is my day to die or one of my battles day. i think that the president should just let us come home now. we are fighting for nothing. we dont have a reson to still be here. and going to afganistan isnt going to make any thing better. so if you want to do something then write your senate and tell him how you really feel, unless you like military personal seeing there friends dieright befor them and there families suffering for there lost ones. so do something.
