McCain: 58466012
Obama: 64975682

21 states went for McCain.

A solid win, yes, but not a landslide by any means.
Reagan in '84 was a landslide. That was when 49 states went to Reagan, and only Minnesota went for their native son Mondale.

What happens under Obama, I don't know. He could be Clinton, he could be Carter, or he could be something else entirely.
One thing we all know, is that the freedoms we started with will continue to erode. Both parties are guilty of this, yet we accept it in the name of civility.... but we are no more civil now than we were 100 years ago. In some ways we're better, in others we're worse. Racism isn't as prevalent, yes, but too many of us don't know the people who live next door. I doubt that was a problem 100 years ago.

What is the basis of your argument that it wasn't a landslide?

Didn't think so................
53 percent of the vote is not a landslide. Reagan had a landslide, FDR had a landslide, the obomination is the next James Buchanan.

If there's a civil war it's not going to about racism at all, but rather, a rebellion against a trampling of the Constitution, dissatisfaction with a federal government that doesn't represent a large awath of the country, etc. Osama's precious gun bans may be the straw that breaks the camel's back.

Don't you understand? A black muslim communist now has ascended to the presidency!

What is wrong with the country responding to an intellectual, inspiring man? He is a born leader-some people have it, some don't. What is wrong with people of all colors and creeds getting behind our next president as Americans? So if you think Barack Obama's speeches are just a bunch of talk- what does that make John McCain's speeches? Stop calling him the "messiah"- he is a man. A man that doesn't make an ass out of himself and the USA every time he speeks in public.
But wouldn't you really rather sit down and have a beer with Bush, though? I hear he drinks O'Douls these days.

A country in peril, a landslide loss in the election, a party in shambles, and old fashioned ideas and principles that don't really work in 2008 and you all are talking trash about the new president as if he will destroy our country. Are you serious?
Hey!

That "country first" stuff was just a campaign slogan, OK?

The U.S. came into existence because the rest of the world was pretty messed up.
If we went back to our founding principles, which are even further out of line with the world, they'll hate us even more. Funny thing is, they'd be moving here at a faster pace than they already are.

Communist? No, I don't think so, but he's a solid socialist, if you look past his campaign rhetoric, and see what his real views are. Just read his books.

There is some talk of forced labor, forced community service even for children -- that's getting much closer to communism.
