Is the height of ignorance. Regardless of having a white mother and a black father, his skin color is still darker than a caucasian- and YES, BLACK and has a result, the barriers that he overcame to get to the white house were many, and up to just a few years ago- unthinkable for many.
Unless you are non-caucasian and have ever been treated different solely based on the darkness of your skin or your appearance- and nothing else- you really have no perspective on what this means. People's actions speak louder than their rhetoric.
Barack Obama is indeed America's first black President. To discount this in anyway is bigotry and America at it's absolute worst.
Overt racism and blind irrationality all in one post. Bravo! It would have been better with some psychobabble thrown in for good measure though. Maybe that's not your forte'.
OK, OK, you win!
Obama is America's first Halfrican-American President. Happy now?
"People's actions speak louder than their rhetoric."
OK, they voted for a "black", as you call him, candidate. So are the whites who voted for this "black" candidate actually racist and just forgot one day, or are they not really racist making your claims of discrimination bogus and convenient?
As for the other thing, it's called affirmative-action. That's when you favor one person over another because of their race or gender. It's just like racial and sexual discrimination but isn't because we call it something that sounds positive and that makes it acceptable for everyone whether they like it or not. After all, if some sort of injustice is done to white males, that's OK because they deserve it for being born white and male. Everyone knows that.
"you really have no perspective on what this means"
Can I take a guess?
OK, I'm guessing it's like paying taxes in the state of MI that go to higher education, getting fantastic grades in college and being denied entry into the U of M Law School because you are the wrong race and some other person who is of the correct race does get in because they add twenty points to his, or her, cutting score. Was I close? OK, here's another guess. Is it like applying for a small business loan through the MI SBA and finding that three applications are used, one for "blacks" (both genders), one for "females" and one for OTHERS. Using the "others" application puts you at the end of the line, but that is what you are forced to do. Does it feel like that?
"To discount this in anyway is bigotry and America at it's absolute worst."
OK, if you say it's so then it is. Just don't forget how black he is when he screws-up.
Calling a man who never went by his middle name by his middle name is an insult and makes you sound really truly racist and ignorant. Our president deserves to be treated with respect if you dont mind.
Thank you for deciding who we should all respect. That whole process of choosing one option or the other is really burdensome. Sure would be nice if we could have you accompany all of us throughout the day and make all our decisions for us.
Actually Obama went by "Barry" most of his life as a nickname. So its not necessarily insulting to call him that, though clearly he prefers to go by Barrack now so people with respect will follow suit. However, its pretty damn obvious why you like to call him Hussein. Cuz you're a jealous hater who thinks it will turn people off to hear his name is the same as our country's arch enemy Sadam Hussein, and to remind people that he has a Muslim name. Funny thing is, none of that seemed to matter so GAME OVER dude. Crawl back in your cave. Yall lost with your hatred and nasty name calling.
Yo, Leroy, who's jealous? Actually I never call him Hussein, I prefer obama LOWER case by intent to match his political boy status. Hussein was part of THIS thread, try and keep up. I'm on a peninsula, flat, no rocks, no caves, just sand and it's not MY fault the Hero lost to the zero, lots of ignoramuses out there but the pendulum will swing again soon enough.

I'm so glad you have so much respect for OUR president, G H Bush.

I think you may be reading more into the election process than is warranted. Most of the voters in this election voted in the last election and the one before that too. RCP: 56% of surveyed voters indicate age as being a significant factor when choosing a president, but only 6% view race as a significant factor.
McCain was too old for most voter's taste. But Obama does deserve credit for giving a great speech and having a good spiel. Unfortunately for McCain, his age was a very significant factor. Pat yourself on the back if you like, but it really has little to do with anything else.
Don't worry for right now. The Congress won't change hands for two more years and in the mean time Pelosi, Reid and Obama can run Helter Skelter with all the socialist new-age crap they like. Who knows, maybe if he isn't too disobedient to the new Congress in 2010, he might even get a second term.
Right. And pigs might fly too! We'll just have to see how the wind blows in 2012.
everytime a white person tries to provide black people on perspective of what it means to be black in America I lose respect more and more respect for white people

"America I lose respect more and more respect for white people"
Is that what the kids are calling it these days?
We just called it racism.
"provide black people on perspective of what it means to be black"
Once again you got it all wrong Dumbo Jr. I was providing insight into what it is like to be a white male in chronically offended hypocritical PC America. If you don't understand what I'm talking about, don't worry because you won't and it doesn't really matter in any case.
I just can't believe you got that much wrong in just one sentence.

You are very wrong. Obama is what he wants to consider himself and thats what freedom is about. His mother and grandmother are white and you want him to deny that part of him? Thats absurd he was raised by them and the term bi-racial is exactly that. Cheer that we now have Black President as many of us are but do not deny him the right to his heritage in order to meet your emotional needs.
