Ignorant, entitled, arrogant, hate-mongering, anti-intellectual.... she's the perfect icon for the Fundamentalist & Wingnut end of the Republican party!
Let's have a big "shout-out" to all the Wingers: please, support her vigorously, so she becomes a permanent and embarassing millstone around the GOP's neck. You betcha!
What I know is that the Obamaphiles are tools. Their candidate was MASTERFUL about letting his operatives insult, smear, and discriminate and acting as if it had nothing to do with him. Puh-lease. And YET they pinned EVERYTHING uttered against Obama on McCain, whether he had anything to do with it or not.
No. We are not tools. And your continued insults show you are taking this VERY ungraciously. So please hesitate and review your own behavior before calling anyone else names.
Personally I can't stand her, she makes me sick with all her phoney bravado, and I almost (but not quite there yet) feel sorry for her now that it's all over.
But!
Hey, SHE drew first blood. From the word go she took on the role of VP attack dog and ran with it. She called Obama every name in the book.
And really, the most compelling part of the whole scenario, is how she basked in the glow of all those idiots attending her rally's. She was in her element, you know? She almost forgot her primary purpose for being there.
It might even be good for her, because now she knows full well what it feels like to have every word scrutinized and every skeleton in her closet aired out.
In the end McCain won more respect from me than she ever will.
What goes around comes around. You play, you pay. And since when is "Pray away the gay" NOT a radical fundy modus operandi?

And, now, this last bit with the staffers trying to save their own skins by further insulting Palin? It's been a feeding frenzy. And, frankly, how she endured it all with her head held high and NO flashes of anger or distress is extremely admirable. Fat chance ANYONE here would be able to handle vicious personal and public attacks about themselves, their families and their faith so well.
I actually do feel a bit sorry for Palin, and always did.
My very first reaction when I heard she was McCain's pick was anger. I had the feeling that the GOP was piking just "any old woman" to stick in there as a "counter" to the people who were considering voting Dem and that infuriated me.
Then I thought, Oh my. What if a woman WAS VP? There was a sense of wonder about it. I'm a woman and it made me feel a sense of pride that a woman might end up our VP. It softened the blow-in-advance I was trying to prepare myself for in case Obama didn't win (I had been very firmly for Obama from the beginning; I voted for him in the primaries too).
And I even wondered for a heartbeat or two after learning the first things we were "allowed" to know about her, which initially sounded strong...should I rethink my choice?
Then she opened her mouth.
At that point I was disgusted all over again. It was like a blow. It's obvious McCain chose a dim woman so she would do whatever he said and just basically stay out of the way for two months. "Pitbull" my *ss. She was chosen because she would be shocked, incredibly grateful, and follow along. But she did a lot of things the GOP didn't plan on. She said A LOT of idiotic things, a few semi-crazy ones, and her past turned out to not be stellar...something McCain might have realized had he spoken to her more than twice before he installed her as the possible second-in-command to run this entire country.
Until then I hadn't really had negative feelings toward McCain, either. He is obviously well-known in politics and has been so for many years, and I actually thought of him more as a chuckly old man than anything else. He didn't (to me) get really, seriously ugly until after his "woman" pick didn't work out.
Now he seems to be going back to the way he used to be...which is a relief.
I feel this campaign brought out the worst in the GOP. Things NEVER had to be like that. If they had been more gracious and just accepted in the end that people simply weren't willing to vote in another Republican president right now, period, instead of the dirtiness and ugliness, things would have gone much better for McCain in general, I feel.
I blame the "handlers" more than anyone else for the Palin fiasco. She's a not incredibly bright person; McCain is a not incredibly well older man. McCain at least can do some work in Washington behind the scenes, I'm sure. He's not done for by any means and it's a relief to see him at least turn back into more of a normal person. As for Palin, Alaska doesn't seem to mind her; so be it. I'd be afraid to have someone that dim run my state. BUT I don't believe she's a terrible person or anything. Just not qualified. Yes, I do feel sorry for her.
You summed up my feelings EXACTLY. Palin was nominated to be appealing to men, to appease women and to pander to conservative Christians. That's alot of people who felt manipulated. There was nastiness on both sides, but it seemed to me that the McCain camp let it get way out of control.
Anyone who knows me will describe me as a pit bull but even pit bulls can only take so much.
You can only carry an analogy so far. Sarah invited a lot of that stuff. She paraded her family around like no other candidate did.

Alaska has a record of corrupt politics, she's a self-proclaimed pit bull. She should have been ready for this if she agreed to go national. She's righteous, all right. Self righteous!

There was a ton of Obama bashing on this forum as well. In fact, I'd say the bashing was fairly evenly split. I found the bashing about his grandmother despicable, people implying she wasn't sick and would live for years, then when she died implying Obama had her euthanized! If that's not sick, I don't know what is! May that poor, tired woman rest in peace!
Everythng an Obama supporter did that was off-key, so to speak, was blamed on him, too. As I said, there's enough to go around.
if Palin had a penis no one would feel any anxiety towards attacks against her, but as an early poster wrote- she threw the first punch at the Republican National Convention

I was simply responding to your diatribe about McCain supporters. And since you're not worth thousands of keystrokes, I kept it succinct. Those who believe that Obama "endured without responding" are tools. If you fit that category, so be it, but that's for you to decide.
I had absolute nightmares at the idea of Sara being a heartbeat away from the presidency. However, I think the poor woman is just so, so...well, so dumb, that she honestly didn't realize how poorly she was prepared for the job. She thought, because she had a few ideas and had those ideas taken seriously by some, that she was something special. This is not uncommon for people who are a "big fish in a small pond." I blame McCain because, if he had truly cared about this country and done his job properly, he would NEVER have put her in the position as his running mate. Now she is being torn to shreds because of his poor judgement. I'd much rather see people blaming him then blaming her for something she can't help.....being dumb.

I, unlike you and other repubs, DO take responsibility for bashing Palin and McCain. It's part of that freedom and liberty thingy. And I ENJOYED IT!!!!!
YOU are choosing to be blind to all the bashing the repubs did.....that is so typical...
Oh, and our party doesn't have a problem...we WON!!!!!!
