Obama is sometimes a good speaker and sometimes very dull and hesitant.
I think we can all admit the McCain-Obama debates were dull. Biden and Palin were far more interesting to listen to -- and it wasn't because of Biden although he did okay.
One of the very few good things I can think of about Obama was his speaking ability. I thought that would be one plus among the zillions of negatives. However, I was shocked at his speaking ability today. He is a major league stutterer. Does he have some sort of medical issue that causes it or is he struggling to come up with answers that won't sound foolish. I know he did a lot of that during the election season, but I figured he was desperately trying to avoid a mistake. But here he is doing the same thing. I don't think I can go for years listening to that.
Good, then stab your ears or disappear.
Simple.
This is the dumbest thread I've ever come across on city data. Surely you know the difference between stuttering and hesitation???
...and the complete idiot award goes to...that's right...the OP. What next?
It is fun to point out the stupidity of these threads though. Keep up the 3rd grade work. I think your next thread should be "and did you see what President-Elect Obama was wearing last night?" Give it some thought but don't hurt yourself.
This post sounds like more of the typical stuff that comes from the left & liberals. They usually never are pleasant to other people when they talk.
The OP is about how Obama can be mesmerizing when he has a pre-written speech and a TelePrompter, but be painful when he does not. This will be a problem for him, as he is not giving speeches anymore. He will sound great in his State of the Union addresses, but when in a setting like today, we are going to wonder what the heck we (you) elected.
That is because he is not a good speaker. He needs to have his hand held by being given a speech to read!
Bush is not exactly a polished speaker for sure, most of the times he's actually interesting enough, doesn't go on and on forever like Clinton did.
Obama's acceptance speech on election night was actually a good speech. And again he didn't do that squinting of the eyes and scanning the audience seeking adoration like Clinton always did.
At other times though Obama is not much better than Bush. Bush at times could be focused, other times it was like he wasn't paying attention. Maybe it's the same with Obama. The time Obama mentioned 57 states. That's something Bush could have done.

I think he'll fair just fine, he IS a brilliant speaker. Anyone who watched the debates should know that he doesn't need a script or TelePrompTer. And though the questions were known, you can't script a debate. Look how McCain handled it, I mean, Joe the Plumber? Youch. And if Bush could do it...well...I think even my 10yr nephew could pull it off.

Actually, I thought Obama spoke awful in the debates. He is a fantastic speaker and motivator with a prewritten speech and TelePrompter, but God awful without it. Now McCain just makes me want to stick forks in my eyes repeatedly, but that is not the issue here. He failed, Obama won. We are stuck listening to Obama now. It is just ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah awful.
He did look tired and needs to rest. He should sleep for the entire weekend, go to Hawaii for the funeral and come back refreshed.
He is a very good speaker and I can't believe anyone thinks otherwise. Most people thought he did well today, so you are in the minority. He has a lot of presence and commands your attention.
