Then it should make you feel better that out new president-elect mentions Reagan a lot in his speeches.

And now, even after the American people have spoken, the same 20 or so people are still clogging up the boards with this mess.
The thing is, is that I don't think these people understand a basic psychological principle in effect ... that showed up in an extremely clear fashion during this election. The more negativity and/or hatred you spew, the more others either begin to not take you seriously, not take your opinions into account when you make them, and/or in some cases, start to feel even more passionately for the items that you spend so much time trying to degrade. It's human nature. For instance, in my opinion, Obama would have won by a smaller margin if both candidates had run a positive, respectful campaign (because of his policy stances). But instead, it was an electoral blowout for Obama because of the psychological principal I just stated above.
So, can we please stop the silliness? It's only making those who are not anti-Obama (the majority) - even more empassioned to support him and/or support him no matter what happens (which is your greatest fear, apparently). The more you show respect, the more level-headed people will respect you and take your opinions into account.

Isn't it funny (but not really) that the very people you're talking about have made their way to this thread? It's like the title is like a hunk of raw steak being waved in the air to a bunch of animals.

The irony is that the ridiculousness and repetition of the anti-Obama posts made me more critical of any threads I saw. I found myself seeking out to hear exactly what was stated by each candidate vs what was posted. What I found was a great disconnect from reality of the anti-Obama spammers. That disconnect made me very suspicious of whom McCain and the Republican party considered their base. When combined with the Obama hate mail sent my way via the post office, I realized that I could no longer align with any of the principles exemplified by today's Republican Party. It's sad really. I don't know how or what, but something bad happened to the Republican Party the past 10 or so years. I still have hope that it will morph into something better in the future, but for now I'm just thankful that Obama won the election. He was the better of the two finalist candidates, and his running mate far superior to McCain's.

Well, what i did was to register as a republican. I received very little junk mail and only a few calls before the election. Most IMPORTANTLY, I wasn't disappeared from the roster, as they thought I was republican which in this conservative state, is enough to keep one on the roster and to determine whether I get to vote for real or by provisional ballot. You see, they disappeared me in 2004 and I didn't want the same thing happening this time around. It worked for me this election and I still voted for Obama - even though I live in AZ and it went to McCain

Well said and they drove undecideds to him pre election and they are only helping the new Obama supporters feel good about their decision.
