Richardson met with Obama, supposedly to discuss Secretary of State. But since it looks like a done deal that Clinton has the job, what post do you think they'll give to Richardson? The following posts are still open:
1. Secretary of Agriculture
2. Secretary of Commerce
3. Secretary of Defense,
4. Secretary of Education,
5. Secretary of Energy,
6. Secretary of Health and Human Services,
7. Secretary of Homeland Security,
8. Secretary of Housing and Urban Development,
9. Secretary of Interior,
10. Secretary of Labor,
11. Secretary of Transportation,
12. Secretary of Treasury,
13. Secretary of Veterans Affairs,
14. Director, Environmental Protection Agency
15. Director, Office of Management and Budget
16. Director, National Drug Control Policy
17. U.S. Trade Representative.
I think Richardson would be the best choice for S.o.S. I think Clinton a good choice but I would much rather see a bilingual representative with real international clout like Richardson.
Richardson has a reputation for getting things done. His word has real weight behind it, all over the world, in countries that like us, and countries that hate us. I've read about him going to North Korea as the U.S. representative of recovered remains of MIA's, and I've read about him stopping by Third World shi*holes and getting Americans sprung from their prisons by speaking with the countries leaders.
He has already been Sec. of Energy and Amb. of the U.N., so I was hoping for Sec. of State.
He'll be SoS ... Hillary is a smokescreen and if she doesn't get it as to why Obama would offer it to her (get her out of the Senate ... neutralize her), then she's not as smart as I thought she was.
Put him in charge of the huge refugee services program that will be needed for all Obama's new dual citizens from Mexico and the many family members they will be bringing in. Millions of people with no language and job skills and many many needs for government benefits should justify a new position.
Richardson has a problem in that Hillary clinton is the most powerful senator in the democratic congresss. He will have problems in that he was so unloyal and slimed the clintons after they really gave him his start. Its like anyone that goes from praising someone to saying the things he did. No one trust you really.
I like Richardson for State, he had credibility there.
I like Hilary for Justice Dept, where she can weed out ALL the evango-fascist pukes from Jerry Falwell's Liberty University, who are nothing but moles, put there to inject Falwell's version of religion into our public laws, and to put the brakes on anything the least bit "progressive" in the eyes of wingnut clowns. Hilary can also weed out and payback any remaining loony toons who made Bill Clinton miserable for 8 unending hate-filled years of special prosecutors, all of whom found nothing. This is a show I'd love to watch, calling out the hypocritical bastards in the GOP; hypocrisy being the very zenith attribute and hallmark of the GOP.
What's Hillary going to do in the Senate? Max Baucus has already put forth a health care plan. Ted Kennedy's made it clear he's going take on health care overhaul. I supported Hillary in the primary, am still disgusted with Richardson and consider him the ultimate traitor. Joe Biden held off endorsing Obama and he was still picked for VP. I would like to see Hillary become SOS. Revenge is sweet. Hillary made over 60 campaign stops for Obama after he became the nominee and I think Obama is appreciative of what she did.
Clip:
She had approached the Senate majority leader, Harry Reid, about becoming chairwoman of a special subcommittee to handle health care issues, but he squelched the idea, Senate officials said. Aides to Senator Edward M. Kennedy, Democrat of Massachusetts, made it clear that despite his illness, he intended to consider health overhaul before the full committee that he leads.
Mrs. Clinton was also discouraged from trying to mount a challenge to any junior members of the party’s Senate leadership, one official said. In a seniority-driven institution like the Senate, it could take years for Mrs. Clinton to accumulate real power despite her status as a national political celebrity and the appeal she demonstrated in the primary season. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/11/15/us...gewanted=print
