They're now not expecting the four million people, but about 1 to 3 million. Personally, I don't think they even have a clue how many people are coming. The same amount of hotel rooms are booked, the same amount of flights are booked, the same number of buses are coming, etc. I say, easily two million.

I think it all depends on the weather...

We've had a rough winter in the Northeast so far - if we get snow, it will cut down on the crowd significantly...

No matter how many attend - it will be a big crowd - and I'm sure tens of millions will be watching on TV.

I know a lot of people are thinking of driving in from outlying areas and parking at the Metro, but those lots will eventually fill then what? What about the folks trying to get on at closer in stations, will they have space to get on? Same thing for the VRE and MARC.

Like other's have brought up, what about porty-potties, that's going to be a lot of turd. Hopefully restaurants in the area are ready as well as gas stations for folks driving in. I'm excited about it, but I hope officials really do their homework on this.
Metro said it can handle the number of riders at the low end of the estimate but not at the higher estimate. One of the concerns is that older people may be biting off more then they can handle.

Yes, my doctor has told me to forget about it. *sigh*. Oh well, I'll still have a comfy view from my living room couch.

I understand the whistle stop tour is going to attract crowds in each city along the way--the hope is that many of the people who had planned to go to DC will head to these little towns instead. Same basic effect, same historic occassion, maybe even a better chance to actually see a few people if you go to one of the stops along the way.

Exactly ... I don't dig crowds.

That's uncalled for ... I pray that the weather would be calm so people can enjoy this event.

I hope to god that security is tight as never before and that it goes problem free. I have been to the Mall and the shear thought of 4 million people there almost frightens me.
One reason why I don't like big crowds such as this...

I agree, praying for freezing rain and/or an ice storm is uncalled for. There will be children in the crowd held there against their will by their parents who want them to see a historical moment in our country's history. Such weather would be life threatening to the children and the elderly. I hope the weather is cool and clear so no one gets hurt or killed.

LOL, yes I know you're kidding but it does bring up a question I've often wondered about....

If you pray for an ice storm, and it happens--and then you learn that people died because of car accidents on that ice--do you feel responsible? If a baby dies in the storm, are you then a baby killer?

If you prayed for ice and people get killed, do you then need to pray to God for forgiveness?

Normie,

Seriously - you don't think these types would pray to God for forgiveness - do you???

After all - it is a well known fact that Neocons have no souls!!
