I think this is a great choice:

"NBC News confirms from Democratic sources that former S.D. Sen. Tom Daschle will be President-elect Barack Obama's Health and Human Services secretary nominee."
Daschle to oversee Obama's health transition team - White House transition- msnbc.com

I liked Sebelius better, but Daschle is fine by me.

By the way, here's an earlier thread where we speculated about this, if you'd like to know more about him.
HHS: Daschle? Sebelius? Or maybe.... Kucinich????

It looks like Obama is putting together a world-class team. I wondered about Rahm, but the more I think about it, the more I think that he's the perfect guy for CoS. I also hope that Obama dumps Gates.

Tom Daschle was elected senator by the citizens of South Dakota. He was not appointed by Clinton to any post. How does that make him a member of Bill Clinton's team when he had no authority to fire him.

he's old blood leftover from the clinton years. I didn't say he was an appointee.

No, you said "it looks like obama is putting together clinton's team and I said he was not for the reasons I stated. Obama's team would be people he's appointed. The president has nothing to do with who's elected to congress. That's why we call it a system of "checks and balances".

He actually preceded Clinton in office by six years, and, was one of PE Obama's earliest supporters. He has devoted his time since leaving the senate to health care concerns.
Funny, a few weeks ago 'old blood' was good enough to be president.
The times, they are a-changing
