Default Chicago businesswoman Penny Pritzker is Obama's pick for commerce secretary

Funny to have a person named Penny given the job of commerce secretary. Guess that says plenty about where the economy's headed...

Another crook tied to the banking industry and making fraudulent loans. She will probably make it in with the demos running things. they seem to like the crooks...

Pritzer may take herself out of running.

"The issue is whether she ultimately wants to do this, and it may be - and probably will be - possible that for business reasons, she probably can't do it," said a Democratic source familiar with Obama's Cabinet selection process.
The early favorite for the job, Pritzker may take herself out of the running soon, sources said. Pritzker was the first campaign insider and "Friend of Barack" to surface as a possible Cabinet pick.

Sounds like Huffington's leaning the same way the Post is. Do you know who the other candidates are for this position? I haven't heard of anyone specifically, which seems odd. Could it be nobody wants this job?

LOL, if nobody wants the job at all, there's always Schwarzeneggar. I hear he really wants to be on the Obama team and will take just about anything. And I can picture him saying "Commerce--I will pump you UP!"

IIRC -
The Pritzker family have been Chicago financial elites for several generations. She may revolt against her upbringing and actually make the necessary changes or she may just be another self serving plutocrat. Only time will tell.

If this article is correct, he doesn't want to be considered until 2010. I heard this someplace else the other day.

Hooray, and hasta la vista, Arnold! This is good news--California needs him right now. OK Arnie, maybe they can find something for you when your term is over... and meanwhile, we can get back to speculating about who we're going to see as commerce secretary.

Maybe you're right and nobody wants the job. Maybe Obama could bring Norman Mineta on board, Clinton's SOC, and the token dem in the bush cabinet. LOL
