Is Pennsylvania ready for Sen. Matthews?
If Al Franken can run, why not Matthews? Matthews commented a couple months ago that the internet/bloggers are becoming more competitive for viewers of shows like Hardball. He added, "I might be out of a job". His contract with MSNBC is up in 2009. Maddow, Olberman and David Gregory are new stars.
MSNBC's Chris Matthews has long been rumored to have an eye on Republican Sen. Arlen Specter's seat in Matthews' home state of Pennsylvania. But a new Los Angeles Times report suggests the story has gone past rumor.
In Wednesday's Times, Josh Drobnyk reports that "this week [Matthews] sat down with state Democrats to discuss the prospect of taking on the five-term GOP senator."

VERY interesting.
I like Matthews. He always has his eye on the crux of the matter. And is focused on cutting through the bullsh*t. He's also not a demogogue and is open to having his mind changed.
It will be interesting to see how this develops.

Heck, they've already taken at least one poll on a potential Mathews/Specter matchup...Specter led 40%-27% but with 33% undecided.
I think Chris would make a fine Senator.

Democrats can do better. Let him stay on cable, where he can further practice his ritual spit-up of the english language along with his thoughtless punditry nightly. The thought of him in the senate sends a chill down my spine that dwarfs the thrill up his leg.

I'll miss his show, but I bet he'd be a great senator.

Lol, the liberal O'Reilly. Gasbag blowhard who likes to distort everything to suit his purposes. Sounds like a solid Dem candidate.

Although I like Matthews, Arlen Spector has actually been a clear voice of reason (and more often than not, non-partinsonship) in a formerly Repub dominated Senate. I'd rather see some other more fractious republican senators depart..

Is Pennsylvania ready for Sen. Matthews?
I like Chris on Hardball, but I also think he'd do good work in the senate. If he decides to run, I'd wish him the best of luck.
