"Criminals" is usually reserved for people who have been convicted - usually of felonies. Why not call them what they are: undocumented workers?
Because 'undocumented workers' has a nice, sanitized ring to it that does not do their actual status justice.
I mean, we could resurect that oldie but a union goodie and call them 'scabs' as they willingly bring wages down and take work from others - citizens and legal immigrants alike.
Or, we could go with prosecutable immigrant, pre-deportee immigrant, unauthorized immigrant, sub rosa immigrant (like the sound of that one ) or even illegitimate immigrant. All of those point to the fact that these people are here unlawfully and working in the US without sanction. How breaking another sovereign nations immigration laws be put to same level as jaywalking, I really can't understand.
. . . as they willingly bring wages down and take work from others - citizens and legal immigrants alike.
For the most part this is total nonsense. They end up doing the backbreaking, mind-numbing and dangerous work that the rest of us won't do unless we have a union that fights for premium wages (think garbage men). And I bet a dime that most of the folks whining about undocumented workers are anti-union too.

My German Landscapers laugh when they are told that only Hispanics do "back breaking" landscape work.
Oh yeah - construction work - no legals doing that work
