Hmm...

Thus far, what has the Constitution managed to stop elected officials from doing?

This is a minor issue. It's been faced before without too much difficulty - but it should be fixed for good by changing the Constitution.

It will only be a big problem if the GOP chooses to cr*p in the sandbox - which is very much a possiblity.

This is a problem not unlike the Obama birth certificate brooha. While it may present a Constitutional violation, the Constitution doesn't provide a remedy, so I've read a number of possible work arounds. One that I found most interesting was that the Congress would simply vote to reduce the pay of the Secretary of State to the level prior to Clinton's vote thus rendering the issue moot.

Sounds to me like she just needs to resign from the senate and the problem is solved..
I didn't support BO, and certainly didn't support Hillary, but we have them for four years, so lets see what they can do. I hope they pull off a miracle..

This is silly, there is no conflict of interest. The president increased the secretary of state's salary by Executive Order, not via vote of the senate so this should not be an impediment.

Nope. This is a very minor issue with a precedent-setting remedy. The Obama birth certificate story is a made-up non-issue.

That would once and for all confirm that there are no real qualifications to be a member of the Washington DC elite.
