"Alaskans need our Governor here earning her salary and working on key problems facing Alaska families," said Alaska Democratic Party Chair Patti Higgins. Alaska is facing significant challenges, Higgins said, including:
* Oil prices have dropped dramatically to about $45/bbl from the peak of $144/bbl in July, which threatens the state budget.
* Alaskans are paying some of the highest prices for gas in the nation, averaging $2.87 per gallon, while the national average is $1.91.
* The state's oil production continues to decline, due to falling prices and mature fields.
* The global credit crunch and falling natural gas prices threaten the Alaska gas line.
* The State is failing to meet its constitutional obligation to take care of public education as shown by the high drop out rates and the low graduation rates.
* Many Medicare patients cannot find doctors.
* There is continued flight from rural villages.
* Alaska faces the prospect of reduced federal dollars from Washington, D.C.

"Alaska's challenges are significant, and there is much that needs to be done right now. Our Governor should remember that her primary job is to work on behalf of the citizens of Alaska, not engage in partisan politics in other states," Higgins said. "Governing is more than creating photo ops. We'd like a commitment that the Governor is working, not just scheduling media appearances." Source

I think she needs to be shackled to her desk in Juneau until her term is over.

Seems to me like if she helped with a lot of those issues she'd be kind of a socialist...

That was a partisan comment and the state budget is being worked on by her staff. The real point to be made is that she is not nor ever has been the hands on Governor she was portrayed to be.

You could be right, I bet Alaskans sure would like their energy expert at home to help though, considering the size of the Government check and the Oil revenue check could diminish....

Part VII of Palins in the Kitchen: Abandon all Hope edition

Sarah: Todd!!!! Do we have to go back to Alaska?
Todd: Well, yes hun, it's getting to be fishing and snowmachine racin' season.
Sarah: But I don't wanna
Todd: Sarah, you're the governor
Sarah: Oh fiddlesticks, I have friends from high school who can run the state for me don't I?
Todd: But Bristol and Levi's wedding ...
Sarah: Oh yea, that ... do you have that shotgun ready?
Todd: cleaned and loaded hun, just like when we got married
Sarah: So does that mean I can stay down here in the lower 48?
Todd: Sarah, Alaska is our home
Sarah: But Todd, now that I've been down here, I kinda like it, A LOT!!! People down here love me, they make commercials thanking me, they ask me to open department stores, I'm the future of the Republican Party don'cha know?
Todd: Says who?
Sarah: Todd, those commercials! Thank you Sarah Palin!
Todd: Sarah, you have to come back to Alaska, the people up there need you.
Sarah: Can't I phone it in, like Obama did when the economy collapsed?
Todd: Alright woman, I hate doing this ...
Sarah: Todd .. no! Todd! Not the white coat with no arms!
Todd: It's for your own good, let's go home.
