I think, technically, the only qualifications to be a Senator are age, residence in the state, etc (basic things). She meets those. We have so many 'qualified' Senators that have done such a horrible job managing our tax dollars, that it's hard to say she is less 'qualified' than the worst Senator. If Al Franken is qualified, it really throws all qualifications out the window.

Senator Coburn (who is one of the most careful stewards of our tax dollars) is routinely mocked for being more of a nuisance than anything else. It shows how little the people really know.

She does not know (or at least articulate knowledge of) the issues at all. She's just going to go in an be a Democratic hack. In NY, it may matter little as the Democrats are going to carry the seat (even beyond the 2010 election). Whether it's Kennedy or someone else, it's going to be a big spender.

As for Caroline Kennedy, it is amazing that the same people who said Gov Sarah Palin did not have enough experience to be VP will support Caroline Kennedy, who has zero relevant experience, for Senator....
Senator is a different job from VP.

I have no problem with Palin if she wants to run for senator. And, likewise, I would definitely not vote for Kennedy if she ran for VP.

Do you support Kennedy for the NY Senate?

Caroline Kennedy repeats 'you know' 142 times in interview - Telegraph
Public speaking is not her strong suit.. this does not mean she will make a bad senator. I would hope that someone with less than perfect grammar will not be excluded from consideration if they have the appropriate qualifications.

Well, she has the minium qualifications: age 30 (?), resident of her state. She doesn't seem to have much else. A reporter in Colorado referred to New York's appointment process as "Star Search", but then the Gov. of Colorado appointed someone who has never run for political office, either, to replace Sen. Salazar.

You're confusing cause and effect.

Bush isn't an idiot because he went to Yale and Harvard. He might have had somewhat normal intelligence at one time. But his notorious boozing and cocaine habit in the 70's and 80's might have very well scrambled whatever brains he had.

And no democrat ever partook of these substances, hence their brilliance?

Can you distinguish between "partaking" and a "habit?"

If you have someone in mind, feel free to name him.

So, relax. Unless you're from New York. In that case, get yourself prepared to vote against her in two years. If you're not from NY, find something a little closer to home to worry about.
Right, She'd be in the top 25% of the Senate. By what measure?

Caroline Kennedy has never been elected to anything. Have a special election now. Or, have her hold off until people can vote.

As for not being from NY, the Senators from NY cast votes on issues that affect us all. We all have the right to speak out on this....

By not being a drunk, a racist, a sexist or a hater.

Please send your recommendations to the NY governor ASAP. Your input is valuable.

Of course you can speak out on it. Expecting to have any influence is kinda lame.

Obama very openly admits his cocaine use. But he controlled himself. He didn't go hog wild and pickle his brain, like a certain current president I could name.

So, yes! Obama did partake. But no, he didn't transform himself into a stammering moron. He's still brilliant. And he's what we need to clean up after the current crop of chickenhawks. They've made a mess of the chicken coop formerly known as the White House.
