You are aware that Josef Stalin and Adolph Hitler were both named Man of the Year, right?

The title of Man of the Year (or Person, although that has been inappropriate as well since at least '88), doesn't mean the person is particularly skilled, able, or good. It denotes that the named person has had an impact on news and history, and the accompanying story highlights why that person is important and his/her/its relevance in a historical context.

Barack Obama could have been selected for no reason other than the fact that he's the second black president.

Choosing Obama was a no-brainer for Time --- which is appropriate, given the magazine's level of discourse.

Actually, the Persons of the Year should be the last few people who still pay attention to that dying publication...

Hey, maybe they should have named Dino Rossi "Person of the Year."

Yeah...not the fireman who saves in infant from a fire...not the policeman who cought a murderer, no The man of the year is a politician who has done nothng but attend fundraisers for the democratic party, who hangs out with terrorists and racist reverends, a man who has never served his country by defending it, and who is married to a America hating wife. This is what we consider man of the year?

Hey, it's better than that stupid marketing ploy about "YOU" being the person of the year. Remember the computer screen with the thin, reflective metal foil on it.
