Definition of Atheism for Modern Atheists: How Atheists Today Define Atheism
B.C. Johnson:
The author of The Atheist Debater's Handbook, Johnson explains why the theist has the initial burden of proof in any argument by explaining that, "The atheist, for his part, does not necessarily offer an explanation; he simply does not accept the theist's explanation. Therefore, the atheist need only demonstrate that the theist has failed to justify his position."

Why would believers feel they need to justify their beliefs to the non believers? Obama and Warren are kindred spirits who have a common link that has brought them together before and will again on January 20. Many of us understand and share that bond. For those who don't ok we will go on without your spirit being there at that moment on that day when Warren blesses our nation and new president.

YES THEY WILL!
This is certainly interesting. I just assumed that all people who don't believe in God or follow a religion just called themselves atheists. Plus, it seems to be defined in the word. Like asexual means you aren't attracted to anyone. Atheist means you don't have a God because the word theist and the letter a. I'm not sure if that's latin? But somehow it means without God. Then again, if people use a word or a symbol in the wrong way it can begin to mean something else

Active Atheism comes brings with it intellectual discourse and the resulting desire to argue with believers. However most believers don't feel the need to argue and justify so Atheist can at times become intrusive and try to force a discussion or issue and thus the resulting negative reaction to them. Most people who don't believe go about their daily lives not discussing and debating religion and people leave them alone. The OP made very nice post about the invitation to Warren and several others. Unfortunately a few Gay Activist had to jump into this thread instead of starting their own about the poor choice as seen by them. Then smelling the opportunity a few Atheist activist jumped in trying to do what that sort does and thus a massive thread was born. Thus the Atheist got attacked back and they had their cerebral orgasm and opportunity to debate religion. Once again congrats to Pastor Warren for being selected and congrats to POTUS elect Obama and may we all on that day show our American pride.

I used the expression that sort just to help some realize that when you seek to identify issues and separate your self from, you can then truly be considered that one. Sort is more then one of that ideology.

May all have a joyous season as this time of the year is special to so many people of different cultures world wide.

Shalom

Looks like right wing homophobe Rick Warren must be feeling the heat as he recorded a video yesterday, speaking about the controversy while at same time demonstrating more bigotry..

In the new video, Warren accuses gays of "hate speech," and of "hateful attacks" against him (poor guy). He then says that gay and lesbian Americans have "Christophobia," obviously attempting to mock the term "homophobia." He goes on to explain that gays are "afraid of any Christian," suggesting that gay and lesbian Americans are not Christians. As icing on Warren's hateful cake, he then calls gays criticizing him "evil."

Of course all this is coming from the same man who compared gay marriage to incest, pedophilia, and polygamy and, as was shown earlier, specifically bans gays from his church. I ask you, who really is fomenting evil and hatred...the bigoted intolerant Rick Warren or the gay community which only wishes to be afforded the same basic rights that heterosexuals enjoy?
