By the time he vacates the White House, he will have issued a record number of so-called 'midnight regulations' - so called because of the stealthy way they appear on the rule books - to undermine the administration of Barack Obama, many of which could take years to undo.

Dozens of new rules have already been introduced which critics say will diminish worker safety, pollute the environment, promote gun use and curtail abortion rights. Many rules promote the interests of large industries, such as coal mining or energy, which have energetically supported Bush during his two terms as president. More are expected this week.

I get the feeling this is just the tip of the iceburg in the discovery of what he has done to this country over the past 8 years. I'm sure the most heinous of his treasonous acts will be even more horrific as they unravel over the next four years.

I truly believe that from the moment the neo cons realized that they had no chance to win the election they have set out to strip this country bare. It is like people whose home has been foreclosed stripping out all the things of value and trashing the rest

Is it just a coincedence that they created the idea that they HAD to have 700 billion dollars with no strings attached and no accountability right before the election? Supposedly that money was to go to banks so the banks could provide financing to small businesses, home buyers, and car buyers. THEY DID NOT USE IT FOR ANY OF THOSE THINGS. Where is our money? What are they using it for? Gee whiz. They don't have to tell us.

Is it a coincidence that the failure to supply lines of credit to all those millions of small buisnesses have resulted in hundreds of thousands losing their jobs and homes? Is it a coincidence that they now refuse to use any of that money as bridge loan to keep the American auto companies in business? The loss of those companies will result in the loss of 3 million additional jobs and will result in the debt for the pensions from those companies being transferred to the U.S. pension insurance fund....putting us billions of dollars further in debt and resulting in the loss of more homes.

Then Bush passes all his midnight sneak attacks stripping more and more or our protection away and making us even more vulnerable to the attack of the multi national companies.

Do you not think that they know if they take away all decent paying jobs it will not be long before everyone in the family will be forced to take jobs at ANY pay offered just to eat? Do you think they don't know that with millions of homes foreclosed by the banks and no one having the financing or money to buy homes that they and their bank buddies will soon be in control of almost all real estate in the country?

Now that they have stripped our economy, trashed our constitution, and weakened our protection, they walk away with the keys to our treasury, our homes, and our jobs, and leave Obama to try to put together enough pieces to even help us survive. Do they care if our country crashes? Not at all. The one thing that I know for sure is that the Neo Cons have no loyalty to the Red, White, and Blue... only to the Green.

Agreed. To suggest the last 8 years were the equivalent of the mad hatter and Dr. Evil joining forces would be an understatement.

You have stated everything that I have posed as questions in my mind for the last 8 years. The only thing you left out was his deliberate act of keeping our borders wide open for the past 8 years for all of his OBL buddies. The tanking of the economy may be the only thing to temporarily derail the final blow to our sovereignty as a nation.

Mission Accomplished, indeed.

Cut to the chase. The money has been stolen from the taxpayers and passed out for kickbacks later. Deal with it.

What's so unfortunate is that some people think that every thing is fine, bush kept us safe, because there were no more big explosions. They fail to see that there are other forms of terrorism.

How is this any different than out-going president Clinton, who did the same?

http://www.heartland.org/policybot/results.html?artId=99 (broken link)

Quote:
A flurry of regulatory activity during President Clinton's final months in office generated an unprecedented volume of new rules and regulations with which American businesses, citizens, and state and local governments will have to comply.

According to Jay Cochran III, Ph.D., a research fellow at the Mercatus Center at George Mason University, this last-minute burst of regulatory activity is to be expected.
Quote:
According to Cochran's research, the dramatic increase in regulatory output during the last three months of the Clinton administration is not surprising in its direction, though the magnitude of regulatory activity has set a new record.

In January 2001, President Clinton eclipsed President Carter's 20-year record for the most pages published in the Federal Register during the post-election quarter. President Clinton's post-election page count reached 26,542 pages (compared to 24,531 pages issued during President Carter's 1980-1981 post-election quarter).

The regulatory activity in Clinton's post-election quarter represented a 51 percent increase over the average number of pages published during the same quarter of the previous three years of Clinton's second term.
