It all depends on what the disagreement is.

I dont get this thread. It's an attempt to troll, see if a fight will start over nothing? But OP, if you want to talk about her poems I'm up for it - go.

That's the thing--it has nothing to do with Elizabeth Alexander and everything to do with Rick Warren.

Okay, here's the deal.

I'm joking - but not trolling.

Bottom line: It's Obama's Inauguration. It's HIS inauguration. Not mine, not yours, not anybody else's. If he chose Jeremiah Wright to give the inauguration, I might not like it, but it's HIS inauguration.

I believe he is just joking around, trying to lighten things up a bit. There is an awful lot of uptight posters.

Oh! okay

I think you gave too much credit with the subject, though - nobody here cares about poetry, even when it's written by bla-a-a-ack people.

My favorite is RESPECT!!!! That would also be fitting as hell.

Wait wait... Elizabeth Alexander is BLACK?

Okay, now I'm NOT kidding! She HAS to go!

And no, I've not read any of her poetry. But I do have a 40% off coupon from Barnes & Noble, and I'm off tomorrow, so I might just mosey down and pick up one of her collections.

Obama is truly trying to mend fences with some of his inaugural choices, he has chosen Larry the Cable Guy and Darrell Waltrip to yell "Boogity Boogity Boogity Boys!" at the ceremonies conclusion

Not only is she black, she's female The only one up there, besides Michelle I guess. Oh wait, I was right the first time. And naive, roly-poly little Rick Warren is going to be up there alone, embarrassing the whites, while the benediction - the most important blessing - is set aside for a very special symbol of what Barack Obama is revealing himself to REALLY be about - "The Reverend Docta" Joseph Lowery. Who's Joseph Lowery you ask? According to the FBI, he's an old-time civil rights agitator who led the Selma march to Montgomery in 1965, on MLK's orders - literal "marching orders" if you will. Naturally, he's for same-sex marriage!

So of course Obama has to have some affirmative-action NPR-type black lady up there! What's he missing? And Rick Warren is going to get up there, thinking he's accomplishing something, when all he's accomplishing is making the Christian community look like they dont care who they stand with or who or what they pray for!
