WASHINGTON (AFP) – Barack Obama will take the oath as US president on the same Bible used to swear in president Abraham Lincoln, the committee planning his inauguration said in a statement Tuesday.

Very cool even if it's just symbolism.

Yes, it's neat. I like it. That said, many Illinois poiticians think they're the incarnation of Mr. Lincoln.

I was just asked a question, that I found thought provoking. I'm not really moved by Obama using Lincoln's bible even as laden with symbolism as it is. But what would move the hell out of me would be the use of a bible owned by Martin Luther King Jr.

(of course the King children would probably try to charge him for the rental).
