LOL, actually that would be something I'd like to see. And when the ceremony's over, porky pig coming up to the podium to say "tha-a-at's all folks!"

I swear, folks who reference to YouTube, have some serious educational issues that somebody needs to address.

That isn't what the paper, any paper, wrote this morning. What they did write was that of the 500 some odd detainees who have already been release 60 or so have returned to the battlefield. That is a problem but then again 60 out of 500 by anyone's calculation doesn't add up to a large percentage.

That goes without saying.

No just a female one.

RESPONSE TO THIS DOUBTING THOMAS. (P.S. i HAVE A MASTER'S DEGREE AND WAS AN HONOR STUDENT.)

"This isn't what the newspaper (any newspaper) wrote this morning."

Boston Herald Wednesday, January 14, 2009 Page 12.

LeadLine: Ex-Gitmo detainees take up fighting U.S.

"Washington-Terror suspects who have been held but released
from Guantanamo Bay are increasingly returning to the fight against the United States and its allies." the Pentagon said yesterday.

Sixty -one detainees who have been released from the U.S.Navy base prison to Cuba are believed to have rejoined the fight. Pentqgon spokesman Geoff Morrell said. That's up from 37, Morrell said. The new figures come as President-Elect Barack Obama prepares to issue an executive order during the first week in office to close the controversial prison.
It's unlikely that the Guantanamo detention facility will be closed anytime soon as Obama weighs what to do with the estimated 250 al-Queda , Taliban or other foreign fighter suspects who remain there.
About 520 Guantanamo detainees have been released from custody or transferred to prisons elsewhere in the world."

Is that good enough for you? Understand that many of these individuals have already been refused entry into other countries? In some cases, their own countries of origin have refused them sanctuary. Reportedly, these are the worst of the worst.

And I ask again, how many of these detainees or lawbreakers who cross our borders without detection, would you house? By the way when you speak of legal immigrants who came to the United States like my father did on April 25, 1912, on the Princess Irene, fully documented, they had to have a sponsor, a place to live and a job. After he saved sufficient funds for passage, he sent for my mother. They became citizens as soon as was possible and raised my four brothers to love the country that offered an opportunity to make a living. May I remind you there were no welfare programs et cetera from 1912 to 1940 so we know those immigrants were not coming here for the benefits. My four brothers joined the service without question during WWII, Korea and Vietnam. My favorite cousin Joe who worked on our farm was a Japanese prisoner of war missing in action for three years. His stories about torture, real torture, would make Gitmo look like a luxury hotel. So please I am not a right wing person, just someone who learned to love a great country that needs to be protected from those who refuse to respects its immigration laws, any of our laws, sign up for every benefit known to mankind, and plan from inside our borders to destroy us. Do you really think the illegals will sign up to defend the U.S? It is a federal law, that they register, documented or not. Or do you care? Law and Social Order is the bulward of any society no matter how small the group.

Several of the 9-11-01 terrorists said the first thing they did after getting a driver's license was to sign up for benefits, no questions asked. That gave them time to do their planning.

How nice of us to give the remaining population ( I assume they would have been released like others had they not been classified as the worst of the worst.) at Gitmo a place and time to plan their futures.

Remember the Trojan Horse story? Better to be safe than sorry! No pun intended.

Thanks Ovcatto....a lawyer...I suspect.

Some just don't care what will happen and what has already happened. It is so sad to be so closed minded about America's security. I guess when we have another attack they will again but only for awhile.
Great Post.

First, congratulations, an admirable achievement. By the way, John Yoo has a jurist doctorate and is a professor of law at Bolt Hall, but apparently the concepts laid forth in the Constitution has escaped him as well.

"This isn't what the newspaper (any newspaper) wrote this morning."

"Sixty -one detainees who have been released from the U.S.Navy base prison to Cuba are believed to have rejoined the fight. Pentqgon spokesman Geoff Morrell said...."

Yes, that is precisely what I eluded to in my post, which directly contradicted the post that I was responding to. Is that good enough for me? I am not sure as to what you are asking, but let me venture a guess. Personally, I ascribe to the adage that it is better for 9 guilty men to go free rather than imprison one innocent man. That is the one of the foundation of our criminal justice system. In this case we are talking about 67 out of the 420 that have been released, which is close enough to my 1 out of 10 standard. And, when I consider that that in Iraq alone the total number of foreign fighters was estimated to be around 10,000, that 67, as a matter of scale, becomes even more inconsequential when placed upon the scales of justice. Even a rudimentary cost benefit analysis would weigh heavily in favor of their released when weighed against loss of prestige, and influence due to the perception of injustice. For every 67 detained at Gitmo, another 670 (and I am being conservative) are sure to be outraged to the point of joining the fight. So, yes, in the final analysis, I am satisfied.

"And I ask again, how many of these detainees or lawbreakers who cross our borders without detection, would you house?"

Well, you and I both know, or should, what a ridiculous question that is. First of all, those detain at Gitmo, were not captured attempting to infiltrate the US, and so far only one, Mr. Hamdan, has been even remotely connected with terrorist attacks against the US ( albeit, as I understand it, 3 are awaiting trial on actual terrorist charges). As, for housing such individuals in my home... the question simply doesn't deserve a response.

"By the way when you speak of legal immigrants who came to the United States like my father did on April 25, 1912, on the Princess Irene, fully documented, they had to have a sponsor..."

A laudable story, the rants aside, but what relevance any of that has to do with the current discussion escapes me.

"Remember the Trojan Horse story? Better to be safe than sorry! No pun intended."

I have absolutely no clue as to what Trojan Horses and closing Gitmo have to do with one another. Are you assuming that upon closure that the detainees will be granted Green Cards or something? At this point all I can say is that you are not being well served by your master's degree.

"Thanks Ovcatto....a lawyer...I suspect."

No, but Mrs. Catto is, I saved myself at the last minute in favor an even more desultory line of work.

I have a few questions for you?

I think marriage should be between a man and a woman does that make me homophobic?

I think life begins at conception does that make me pro-life?

Your rantings are just that rantings and compared to Obama's previous Reverend I think Warren was HUGE step up.

Have you Obama defenders seen thelight yet? How much more do you need to know he is a flaming socialist? Every promise he makes will be funded by those of us who are working or earning income, on pensions etc. Now he wants veterans to use their private health insurances if hurt in battle????? He is being "nice" to gitmos...illegals...disarm pilots...has a team of no tax pays...has promised health insurance to "everyone" who do you think is going to pay for that? The illegals just "me free" at pharmacies, hospitals, clinics, while we pay co-pays, premiums etc. And all you personal attackers....I did not get my degrees at Subway, but worked my but off for every dollar spent on it unlike the illegals who want free college education. Don't tell me you condone their refusal to sign up for Selective Service 18 yrs old and over (male)?"who already told me in response to a question about it....oh no....if war breaks out here, I would have to defend this country." Excuse me, my fourbrothers served on acrive duty....instead of personally attacking me or my education, get yours updated. Your guy can't even speak without a prompter. Aren't you sick of his left and right bobble head? He never looks us straight in the eye. How much more of his nonsense do you need to know he is a socialist and wants spread more of your wealth. If you agree with him, send more money along with your tax reform.

Please go to www.opensecrets.org and see who got the most lobbying dollars from these Wall St nerds. Obama thirty eight per cent of the time he was the top recipient. Over 300 Congressmen and women took money from these guys and now try to scorch them before all of us. I think every member of Congress should giveback the money they took from these guys...aig...bear stearns...goldman sachs etc. While I am typing this message I can hear the Prez promising college to "every person" who needs a loan....won't send the illegals back. Last year we spent over 200 billion on health, education and other benefits for illegals. Send them home...
