The 82 percent approval is higher than then President-elect George W. Bush 8 years ago, who had a 65 percent transition approval rating, and Bill Clinton, at 67 percent in 1992.
"Barack Obama is having a better honeymoon with the American public than any incoming president in the past three decades. He's putting up better numbers, usually by double digits, than Bill Clinton, Ronald Reagan, or either George Bush on every item traditionally measured in transition polls," says CNN Polling Director Keating Holland.
This is certainly good news as we move forward together.
This isn't at all surprising, considering Obama had a higher percentage of the popular vote than did any other President in recent years.
But honestly, I'm not sure how significant this poll is. From what I'm hearing and reading, even most of the people who didn't vote for Obama are more or less okay with him. There are, of course, the fringe element haters, but I think most of the people who voted for McCain are saying, "Obama wasn't my choice, but he's my President and I wish him well."
Oh wow, so if Obama wipes his *** will that land him a 75% approval rating? How about popular opinion on how he walks his dog? 80% of American voters approve?
These are stupid polls and their only intention is to create media buzz. The only poll that will count will be his approval rating in 2010. See ya there!
Just goes to prove that if you tell people you will be their nanny they will vote for anything.
With approval ratings like that, it seems a lot of "conservatives" clearly want a "nanny" too.
The truth is, after 8 years of complete and utter incompetence, people don't want a "nanny" - they just want someone smart and competent in power.
Intelligent people recognize that.

Ken
Competent and intelligent is only good if the person elected has the right values and wants good government. More intelligent people recognize that. LOL
