The funny part about all this "evil liberal Hillary" garbage is that Hillary is NOT a liberal by any stretch of the imagination. It's another right-wing meme that's put out there to scare the base just like Pelosi and her supposed "San Francisco values".

As far as the original question- what can I do to encourage them to stay home? Look what their judgment has wrought upon us for the past 6 years. I don't want my country going any closer to a theocracy than it already is.

everything that Hillary would sign on and implement is a "liberal agenda item",from raising taxes, creating more taxes, gun bans, socialized medicine and so on....guess what though,Bush is not a conservative. And yes while I valued that Bush was religious, I disagree with some of the things he did based on being religious namely who he appointed as attorney general.

Hillary is pretty clearly a moderate on most issues. You might think she's liberal if you are far, far to the right, but then you'd have to call Nixon, Bob Dole, George Bush Sr., and other prominent Republicans liberals as well. The views of the Clintons on most issues are actually to the right of Richard Nixon.

I will grant that Mrs Bill Clinton has become the poster child for rallying the troops on the right, and making sure that the social conservative come out, which they will I just dont believe that she is going to be the nominee, the odds are too great, the last sitting senator to be elected president was JFK. The next president will be a current or former govenor, As for Mrs Bill Clinton not being a liberal, mb , you either have a very narrow and extreme description of liberal or a very broad one for a moderate. If she were president and had a democrat majority in both houses we would have liberalism "socialism" run rampant! Universal health care ?

True enough. I wonder if you looked real hard at the election of 1960...115,000 votes out of some 60,000,000 cast is not very much.

You lambasting me in that other thread makes me hesitate before saying anything definite. However, if you read TH White, JFK said something really weird to him.

He quoted Dick Daley as saying to him, "With luck, and the help of a few good friends, you'll take Illinois."

The conversation is recounted in White's book, "In Search of History."

Don't worry about my "lambasting" you if you're pretty sure of your facts. The story about Daley and JFK is probably true. The Daley machine in those days could deliver the vote for whoever Daley favored. I'm sure it involved some ballot stuffing and votes from dead people; that was fairly common in those days regardless of the party or politician. I think in the long run, the illegal votes washed each other out.

But, Daley in Chicago had a foolproof machine of ward captains who took care of the voters in their ward. If there was a problem with streets or garbage or anything else of a municipal nature, all a voter had to do was bring it to the attention of a ward captain. Of course, it was understood that the reason why the ward captain had the power to get things accomplished was because he could also deliver the vote. So, one hand washed another -- both the voters and the Daley machine got what each wanted.

It's not any different today, with fundamentalist preachers delivering the votes of their congregations to the right-wing in exchange for support against gay marriage and abortion.

JFK's election was close, and it probably was Chicago that delivered the winning margin. They might have done so evern without Daley. At least JFK did get more popular votes than Nixon; as opposed to Gore getting more popular votes than Bush.

Bush did not defeat Gore; his victory was handed to him by the conservative US Supreme Court.
