I believe violent and overt racism is on the decline, for the most part ppl have better things to do. However like Rob said prejudice, discrimination and racism will always be there unfortunately. The question I wonder really is that Obama is only 1 of 2 Black Senators today, after his presidency lets say 2016 when would be the next time around that a Black politician becomes president? I believe we may have to wait a good 3-4 decades after that until it really becomes an actual "norm".

You may be more racist than you think, study says - CNN.com

Good point. I was listening to Mike Gallagher today, for those of you who also listen to him on talk radio, and he had a black columnist on his show who wrote this extensive report about the decline of racism in America. The guest basically said that racism is pretty much over in America, and that blacks who are screaming about racism is still alive and well in America are basically still in a time warp.

Judging by the poll/thread I started a few months back I would say racism will either stay about the same or possibly get better!!

We've made major strives in putting an end to racism but it still raises it's ugly head at times. What's remarkable about President Obama's win is that very few other Western nations have elected a racial minority into office.

Electing Obama doesn't mean we aren't racist, just that we have an ounce of common sense.

We won't be truly post-racial until we've elected an incompetent, unqualified black dunce to office.

Hell has a better chance of freezing over than Kwame Kilpatrick has of ever becoming president of the United States.
