I thought "god" was everywhere...how do you throw it out??? Where would it go? What would it do when it got there?

[quote=cuebald;6929051]I'm guessing that you don't believe that Bush's presidency was God's scourge to punish America for its sins and that Obama is more of a Rainbow that follows the Flood or a Moses to lead it out of the wilderness.

This is a joke, right? Seriously...now you libs are comparing obama to Moses? How completely deluded and horrifyingly scary.

The man is a Christian and can swear on what ever holy book, or not, that he wants to use. His choice.

IIRC God has a pretty good hypocrite detector. Apparently better than our electorate in 2000 & 2004 (not counting the cheating).

Hmmm.... that gives me something to ponder. I wonder how things would be different if, back in January 2001, atheists had convinced the inaugural committee to drop the prayer. I think that would have been more likely back then--if ever there was a time it would have happened, it probably would have been then.

So imagine that we have a prayer-free inauguration and then, coincidentally, our nation goes through everything that happened in the past eight years. September 11, Katrina, wars, foreclosures, bailouts, even Bernie Madoff would then be blamed on the fact that we had removed the prayer from the inauguration.

The result: people would start praying like crazy, and these would be devout prayers.
It might even create a wave of fanatic religion, since extremists would try to convince the country that god was punishing our country for not praying at the inauguration.

Yes, it's hypocritical--but you know it's true. If you pray and bad things happen, people tend to shrug. But if you don't pray and bad things happen, religious fanatics get empowered.

So, ironically, if we had remove the prayer in 2001, it probably would have resulted in a tremendous resurgence of Christianity.

An irony to ponder....
