WASHINGTON (CNN) -- President-elect Barack Obama will invoke God when he takes the oath of office January 20, despite a lawsuit filed by atheist and non-religious groups, according to an attorney for Chief Justice John Roberts, who will administer the oath.

I'm not at all religious, but I see no problem here.
But then, I try to practice tolerance of things that don't directly harm myself or others.
I see no harm.

I also was never pissed off about having to recite the pledge of allegiance (with under god) growing up.

we have already 'taken '
God' out of so many things already-
when will people see that it is the MAIN problem that this country is in?
He isnt going to force Himself on anyone.
so if this country chooses to dump God- He will leave us alone.
this country is going down folks.
i hope all you 'against God' people are ready.
i feel sorry for you.
truly.
as for the new elected president...
is he muslim or what?
if he is muslim, then it isnt Almighty God he believes in.

I'm guessing that you don't believe that Bush's presidency was God's scourge to punish America for its sins and that Obama is more of a Rainbow that follows the Flood or a Moses to lead it out of the wilderness.

The correct sentence, BTW, is, "Is he Muslim? So what?"

Good for Obama!!!

Let the aethists hold their breath and let their faces turn blue - only do it way in the rear rows so we don't have to see it on tv...

There are way too many special interest groups in this country trying to force their morals or ways of life down our throats.

Hey, let them hold their breath and turn blue on tv if that's what they want to do, LOL. I've got no grudge against protestors, and watching them turn blue could be sort of entertaining.

I'm just happy to see yet another frivolous lawsuit get absolutely nowhere. Abusing our legal system is not the way to get things done. (And, IMO, holding your breath on national tv is more likely to get some attention for your cause.)

I can't wait until this stupid "suing-is-the-solution-to-all-our-problems" fad passes.

As far as I can tell, this Inauguration is for Barack Obama, not a bunch of un-named atheists and protesters.

If he wants Rick Warren to do the invocation, that's his choice, not ours.

The list goes on and on and on. But the bottom line is that it's Obama's Inauguration. He gets what he wants.

Anyone ever stop to consider that the more we throw God out of our country that the worse conditions in this country become? Coincidence? I don't think so!

I think it is wonderful that Obama is invoking God into his inauguration. Most of our great country is Christian and if the athiests can't deal with it, oh well
