Sure she put the state's plane on ebay to cut costs. Sure Obama gets a new plane and new gas guzzling limo. . . . While the country goes to a $1 trillion dollar deficit under Obama's leadership and 44 states (of 50 for you Obama followers) face budget shortfalls, six states are managing to control spending just fine. . . one of them Sarah Palin and Alaska.
Seems some just love to listen to the talk; others note the walk.

When you sit on top of a mini-OPEC supply of oil which is treated like a nationalized resource, in a state the with the population of a large city, it doesn't take a lot of talent to stumble around.

Yup.
In effect, Alaska has "Socialized" the oil - using that resource to fund the state instead of using the typical array of taxes to do so. It was that way BEFORE Palin - and it will be that way AFTER Palin. It says nothing about her skills as a governor. You or I could take over her job and Alaska would still be in the same situation in that regard.
I don't know where you guys are getting your information... Alaska is one of the most expensive places to live... it has high property taxes as well as an array of other taxes (which makes up for the lack of state income tax/sales tax)... Food and just about anything purchasable is expensive, likely due to its remote location... Its pretty expensive to live there (as well as isolated)... the main reason they don't have a large deficit is probably because they don't have a lot of people... population is a big factor when considering the budget... that's why you DO NOT compare countries to countries unless they have the same population and have the same land mass otherwise you introduce bias... but not like you guys care anyway...

Your point about population is true - as is the statement about the cost of living. For total taxes though, Alaska has the lowest in the union at 6.4% overall burden (Taxes by State) - and while it IS true that Alaska has a number of different taxes, the income from oil is HUGE:
"Since 1990, Alaska's state and local tax burden has consistently been the nation's lowest. Estimated now at 6.4% of income, Alaska's state/local tax burden is well below the national average of 9.7%. Alaskans pay $2,871 per capita in state and local taxes.
Before the Trans-Alaska pipeline was finished in1977, taxpayers in Alaska bore the second-highest tax burden in the country. By 1980, with oil tax revenue a certified bonanza, Alaska repealed its personal income tax and started sending out checks instead. The tax burden plummeted, and now Alaskans are the least taxed." - The Tax Foundation - Tax Research Areas > Alaska

PS - Note too that it's the 3rd highest state in regards to benefiting from Federal dollars.

Another fine example of Atwater/Rove right-wing projection. Take one of your main weaknesses (deficit spending) and accuse your opponent of it.
In this case, though, it's mixed with fortunetelling, as Obama has yet to be sworn in or pass a budget.
It's going to be a tough 4 years for the low-intelligence conservative.

No, that's based on the latest estimates that came out yesterday (I believe). These numbers are are NOT debated by Obama - and in fact the number MAY go even higher depending on the stimulus package.
