Is 53% what you call a "substantial margin"? It's a very slim majority.

Secondly, if "what the GOP thinks is irrelevant", does that mean that what 47% of Americans think is irrelevant? Is that the kind of American Representative Republic we have? I don't think so.

The country that our founders established gave everyone a voice in their government. Apparently, you disagree with this concept.

I think the whole country is in the mood for austerity. Not starving, just getting into shape. Im so glad we have even this promise of transparency and communication - so much better than secrecy and hostility and deaf ears. So far so good anyway.
Nancy Pelosi promised that the new Congress (at the time they took over two years ago) would be the "most ethical" and she also promised transparency, etc. She hasn't delivered. Much has been done in secret, and it has been anything but ethical.

What makes you thing OB will be different?

Correct. Nor are they behind a rightist agenda.

WE elected President Obama because he is a centrist. From the far right he and his agenda just look like they are leftist, sitting there in the center.

America is expecting great things from Mr. Obama, and so far he shows every sign of being ready, willing, and able to provide them. I think he has at least one more term in him should he continue on his current path.

Could you give some examples of his centrist positions?

He also has at most one more term in him, I just thought it was funny you worded it like that.

Everything he has done so far is centrist.

Closing Gitmo, pulling out of Iraq, ethics guidelines, pay freezes, a Sunshine Provision concerning the FOIA, etc.,etc.,etc. -

What about these do you find to be "leftist"? These are the things that the majority of Americans (e.g., the centrists) want.

You never know what the future might bring. I prefer to keep all options on the table.

Exactly. People who throw around words like "dictator" and "socialism", meanwhile living in our comparatively VERY coddled USA, have no clue. They remind me of my 13-year-old niece shrieking that her home was a "dictatorship" because of her curfew, and slamming her door and crying.

A dictator knows to start out slow, so the frog doesn't jump out before it's cooked.

And exactly who goes around calling him the messiah? It's not the people that actually voted for him.
