Of all the balls for Obama to skip, this was not the one. Especially since we are currently in a war with two fronts -- to ignore the soldiers was irresponsible. Frankly, he should have known better.

Btw, you mispelled 'faux pas'

I agree on this - pointlessly rude and almost morally wrong.

I'm sure Obama didn't intentionally snub them, he just couldn't find the door. Cut the man some slack.

I fear that this is just one of the first in a loooong series of missteps that will be taken by Obama. If he were the right person for the job, he WOULD have known better. I wonder what else he's gonna screw up in the next 4 years because of his inexperience...

Um...I think he grasped the significance...the problem is not that he didnt know better or that he was inexperienced.

And apparently a duplicate post as well:

The MOH ball. Hmm. Well ya know that even the CIC has to pop to and salute an MOH recipient. He may have found that thought distasteful and beneath his new position. An executive order rescinding that rule is probably pending

Oh, so he KNEW the significance of skipping a ball honoring our military but chose to skip it sending Joe instead? Well, that makes a world of difference! He's not clueless, he just cares more about the celebs and his standing with them than those that are actually out serving our country. What a boy wonder!
