One more thing...the Democrats NEED an improving economy if they want to keep getting re-elected long term. If the economy remains the same or gets worse throughout the next four years, Obama could go down in history as the second Jimmy Carter with a new GOP President taking over in 2012. Yes, Roosevelt got re-elected during the Great Depression, but the economy had improved somewhat as a result of the New Deal by 1936 as compared to 1932 when the market hit bottom.
I think that the Republican Party had to follow the will of the people during the 2008 election.

It still makes me think that Georgia was the determinant in the Primaries. I have nothing against Georgia - but at the time, it pushed McCain ahead.

If it weren't for Georgia's vote - things might have been different.

I also have nothing against McCain.

If Huckabee were President, we'd be considering a fair tax, not some Pelosi driven Socialism.

I wouldn't doubt that Pelosi supports PETAs Sea Kitten drive. Look it up.

Romney was a corporate phony most of the rabid "base" couldnt support. The support of the GOP, especially the white conservative male voters and fundies, dont work as well when your nominee is Mormon. Of course, he's likely about as Mormon as McCain is an active church goer who prays nightly, but the thing is, its all about perception. It's never been about substance. And the Mittster is a corporate stooge who is LOADED with $$$$. And he would be even MORE loaded if that snake oil salesman were President. He could pose for photo ops alright and smile while shaking hands but he'd be so far in over his head with ethical concerns that NOTHING would change in American foreign policy, and it would be another Bush term there. Whether he could fix the economy is highly unlikely, and if he DID, it's cost would be borne by the almost extinct Middle Class, as more jobs would leave the country and DOWNSIZING would be the national motto.

But maybe the deficit would be reduced by a few trillion, stock prices would bounce back and Wall Street could get back to awarding itself bonuses again

Just think, the looney left has already screwed up things the past 2 years they had control of congress, but they got away with it by a looney left friendly media that accused Bush as being the problem.

The Obamedia and others will continue to blame W for everything, but that strategy is starting to fall on deaf ears. They can still do if (maybe until the Fall of 2009 or so), but there will be a time in the relatively near future where (D)'s will have to own the economy.

The (D)'s are off to a wretched start. The 1110th Congress (Jan 2007-Jan 2009) was when things were really bad while the (D)'s had control. It has only gotten worse with the 111th Congress and the Obama admin.

They have committed up to $ 2 Trillion or more in one month. Numbers speak for themselves:

Lands bill and SCHIP: $ 40 Billion
2nd half of TARP: $ 350 Billion
Stimulus package: $ 790 Billion
The above three are quite precise and total around $ 1.2 Trillion. The others are less concrete, but these estimates should be somewhat accurate.

Foreclosure relief: $75-250 Billion (hard to gauge how much new money, separate from what has already been committed).

Bank rescue plan: up to $ 2.5 Trillion

The used car salesman you7 elected is a total loser, and sinking like a stone.
The next election all Republicans will be elected, after the mess the ingorant Democrats mahe made the last couple of years.

For 8 years vampires bled the Treasury 10 trillion into debt and one month into a rescue by the adults you complain, ****, moan and whine already.

Your moronic President dug a hole we wont be climbing out of for years. Thanks for nothing.

Historically correct. After the Civil War, the Radical Republicans were ousted in Texas, and Texas was 100% Democratic for over 100 years. However, the party split into two factions--conservative and liberal Democrats. The Conservatives looked more like Republicans than most Republicans did. With the Reagan revolution, the Conservatives moved into the Republican party, and we have been a red state ever since!

Having said that, even if Kaye Bailey Hutchinson decides to run for governor and gives up her Senate seat, there is no way in heaven or hell that Texas will put a Democrat in the Senate.

Oddly enough, I am a Democrat, but I like Kaye Bailey Hutchinson and might even vote for her for governor even though we don't agree 100% on everything. If we have to have a Republican governor, and Texas will have a Republican governor, she is one that I can live with. (I am not fond of John Cornyn, our other Senator, however.)

The GOP is still sinking. The new RNC Chairman, Michael Steele, can't save many GOP seats for 2010, so my guess is he'll focus on the 2012 elections. It will take the GOP years to build grassroots power like we now see with Obama.

Given the above backdrop, it's fitting for the RNC to wipe it's collective butt and get rid of the old guard that has brought our nation this long-running disaster, a disaster of epic proportions that has many years yet to run. I hope Mr. Steele rids the RNC of its neocons, evango-fascists, anyone who had anything to do with the Bush disaster and gets the GOP back to its "Goldwater" roots, with a large does of Teddy Roosevelt for good seasoning.
That is a Republican party that I could vote for.

Bush doesn't look quite as moronic now that Obama has redefined the meaning of the term. He burned over $ 2 Trillion in one month! Even during the Bush years, (R)'s were much better on spending than (D)'s.

Jan 2009 was the worst things got during the Bush admin and they weren't even that bad. Wait until it really hits the fan under Obama! He is holding a fiscal responsibility summit on Monday after going through more than
$ 2 Trillion in his first month. What a joke!
