Apparently Steele was hired by the GOP to be a candidate..rather an unusual arrangement.
Rumor has it, Steele is being paid 30 pieces of silver to become RNC Chairman.

What was done was legal apparently so what is the beef? Now Obama supporters are concerned about ethics? Now that's a laugh, especially considering recent news about Obama's nominations and their lack of honesty regarding not paying taxes.
Although the payments appear legal, Democrats said the GOP's contract with Steele raises ethical questions and suggests the party might be subsidizing the living expenses of a candidate for statewide office.

No beef with being paid just funny that in order to get a black candidate the GOP has to go to 'Negros R Us' to get one.
He just happened to be the best qualified and Black. It is a shame some blacks have to be so short sided to rule out that a Black person can think on his/her own and happen to be conservative. It shows such diversity and tolerance.

You are entitled to your opinion. I happen to think he is the best qualified and I have heard him many times. He is not a Republican insider and I suspect that is why he got the nod. He was most definitely not a token he is well respected among conservatives. Saying that he was a token is like saying Obama was a token and only won because of white guilt, hmmmm.

No, it just shows that you have a problem with reading comprehension, or just a need to cast unwarranted aspersions.
My comment is in no way shape or form can be construed as being a sleight towards Chairman Steele. Nor will you ever hear me disparage an African American simply because he or she may have a conservative point of view, and there are quite a few that do. The joke is actually on the GOP whose paucity of even conservative African Americans is so palpable, as this case exemplifies, that it is necessary to pay an African American to run for office.
And just in case you missed my comments early on, the selection of Steele is a win-win for African Americans.
In the long run, it will be interesting to see who really has a taste of diversity and tolerance. We've already seen what can happen to an African American who falls off the Republican plantation in the last election.
