And who is in charge of the vetting process??? You know, if people aren't smart enough to pay their taxes and take care of business liens, maybe they aren't smart enough to be appointed to cabinet positions.
Tax snafus add up for Obama team - USATODAY.com
"The confirmation of another Cabinet member stalled Thursday because of unpaid taxes after USA TODAY disclosed that the husband of Labor secretary nominee Hilda Solis paid about $6,400 this week to settle numerous tax liens against his business dating to 1993.
Solis and her husband, Sam Sayyad, were unaware of liens against his auto repair shop until USA TODAY asked about them Tuesday, White House spokesman Tommy Vietor said Thursday. Vietor said Sayyad went to the Los Angeles County tax office and paid what he was told he owed — about $6,400 — to settle outstanding liens."

Incredible, isn't it?

Do you ever remember so many tax cheats being nominated in previous administrations?

I can't disagree with that statement. The other thing I find so astonishing is that when you know Daschle is up to his eyebrows in problems, don't you think the other nominees just might, maybe want to make sure their financial affairs are in order?
It is a joke.

And until each side stops the bickering and stops pointing out which side is worse and stops making excuses for their guy nothing will ever get accomplished.

The tax problems of Mr Solis are the lesser of Ms Solis' problems. Her more concerning issue is the work she did for American Rights at Work in favor of the EFCA and another act. She basically lobbied Congress for these bills, without revealing the conflict of interest.

My hunch is that Solis is going to have to step down.

Speaking of spouses and back taxes and the White House.

Cindy McCain Pays Back Taxes on San Diego Condo | Newsweek Periscope | Newsweek.com
When you're poor, it can be hard to pay the bills. When you're rich, it's hard to keep track of all the bills that need paying. It's a lesson Cindy McCain learned the hard way when NEWSWEEK raised questions about an overdue property-tax bill on a La Jolla, Calif., property owned by a trust that she oversees. Mrs. McCain is a beer heiress with an estimated $100 million fortune and, along with her husband, she owns at least seven properties, including condos in California and Arizona.

San Diego County officials, it turns out, have been sending out tax notices on the La Jolla property, an oceanfront condo, for four years without receiving a response.
