Hmmm...The Sarah Palin pick to draw more women didn't work...so they get a black man to become the face of the party to draw more minorities. And to add to his "cred" they will try to wrap the message in a "hip-hop" message.

Something tells me this gimick won't work either.

I think it will backfire. The term "Keep It Real" was born out of the hip-hop culture. Does the GOP think that this latest trick will be viewed as "Keeping It Real" to the hip-hop generation?

I don't think so.

Washington Times - Steele: GOP needs 'hip-hop' makeover

LOL.... Micheal Steele managing a hip hop makeover for the Republican party is akin to Carl Weathers hosting a Pampered Chef party. Sorry Dad... the kids ain't gonna buy that you are 'cool and hip'.. especially while wearing that pin stripe suit. As a former registered republican I can now rest easy with turning independent. The party leadership is complete toast.

Wow, you seem really upset for someone who doesn't belong to either party. Peace out, shawty!

So, you want to play the game of "our black politician is more gratuitous than your black politician?" Whatever! I don't belong to EITHER silly party.

Statements such as "THe GOP needs a hip hop makeover" just underlines the fact that Obama was elected more for appearance and his ability to charm and less for his ability to govern. Appearance vs reality. I'm looking for substance, not empty suits. Michael Steele can pack sand.

Why the constant assumption that Obama was only elected because he was cool? Most people who voted for him liked what he stands for (or what he campaigned that he stands for) and agree with him (or what he campaigned as) on most issues. His personality definitely did not hurt him at all, but it is not the sole reason why he was elected. Now, an argument can me made that his personality perhaps boosted him a % point or three nationally - and since almost half the country voted democrat in the previous two elections, one can argue that Obama's personality finally pushed the Dems over that half-way hump ... hense the statement "his coolness won the election" could at least be a half-truth.

The GOP should rename themselves the Grand Old Party.

It's got a nice hip-hop ring to it.

A dem to a rep: "Say, what party you rollin' with?" , a rep to a dem " The Grand Old Party, you betta recognize, WHAA-WHAA!!"...

I'd say most didnt know what his stances on most issues were.

My opinion (only my opinion now) is that most voted on the "change" mantra. That and that he wasnt a Republican.

I doubt many at all knew his actual stances.
