Default Health care redux

William Kristol (he who worships at the feet of Sarah Palin) and one of the neocons responsible for the war in Iraq sent this memo to the repubs in 1993 advising them to shoot down Bill Clinton's healthcare reform policy. The "no new ideas" republican party will probably use the same tactics to try and defeat health care reform this time around. Ain't going to work this time, guys. We're on a different playing field, and individual members of the middle class are not happy with health care. The U.S. does not lead the world in health care any longer. Note criticism of Hillary Clinton because she points out most Americans are only an illness or job switch away from financial ruin. This has come to pass. The line about instilling fear in the american public by dems is laughable coming from the neocons. 9/11, 9/11, 9/11, anyone?
Some highlights:
...the Clinton proposal is a serious political threat to the republican party.
...passage of the bill will help democratic electoral prospects in 1996
...do not negotiate with the democrats
...if the plan passes, it will revive the reputation of the part that spends and regulates, the democrats, as the generous protector of middle-class interests. It will strike a punishing blow against Republican claims to defend the middle class by restraining government.
...majority of people believe health care system is dysfunctional

Before they can shoot down the plan, there needs to BE a plan. Obama has offered no specifics on his health care proposals. No estimation of premiums for the Federal plan, no explanation of Medicare/Medicaid cuts which will pay for half of the $634 million dollar "down payment" on healthcare, NADA.

Democrats have never lobbied for healthcare reform based on the needs of the middle class, but rather the poor and/or unemployed.
