CNN.com - Bush warns militants who attack U.S. troops in Iraq - Jul. 3, 2003

Quote:
(CNN - July 2003) For example, Rep. Curt Weldon, R-Pennsylvania, on Tuesday called for troops to leave Iraq as soon as possible. Speaking to a group of business executives in Washington, Weldon, a strong supporter of the war in Iraq, said one of Congress' "greatest concerns is that our government not get bogged down with our military for the long term."

Debt Held by the Public

Hell let's give all of 2009's debt to Bush despite him only being in office for 20 days.
2009- $7,987,000,000,000

By 2017- $17,277,000,000,000

Seems kinda pale in comparison. Hope there are now more wars because they'll never be funded, opps, Obama showed his hand before anyone bet. Is that why all those countries are building up their military again.

Here is my source of National Debt ....

Debt to the Penny (Daily History Search Application)

What's yours ????

Amazing how yours already knows the entire annual debt for 2009 on March 23, 2009. Does it also know future lottery numbers?

8 years to invest in alternative energy sources to minimize our dependence on oil. 8 years to incorporate lending regulations to keep predatory lenders and their ambiguous, deceptive contracts away from unsuspecting buyers. 8 years to develop a foundation so that jobs could be created for Americans, not boosting the economies of India and Chinia. 8 years to curtail illegal immigration. 8 years to deal with the street gang problem. 8 years to stop this flow of Indians moving into our communities with H-1B visas, where they displace American workers and practice separatist behavior, 8 years to incorporate education reform. 8 years to put mechanisms in place to avoid a housing crisis. They had 8 years to control gas prices. 8 years to revamp health care and the income tax code. So forth and so on. They had 8 years!

What did they do? They squandered nearly a TRILLION dollars fighting an ideological war that we could not win. It was like trying to eliminate the clouds with gunfire. Might as well been declared a "war on clouds." This lack of action on the domestic agenda, this severe neglect, is the reason why the country is in a free fall. Those of you who supported and voted for the village idiot, who supported his reelection and who supported McCain, should be ashamed of yourselves. You were and remain a part of the problem. You have absolutely no say in the direction of this country. Your opinions on what Obama is doing to correct this problem are largely irrelevant because history has shown that your political instincts are unreliable and wrong. If you voted for Bush the second time around, you should be hiding, doing more and talking less. It's laughable to read criticism of Obama by someone who didn't have sense enough to recognize that Bush didn't deserve a second term. The "no taxes" argument didn't work.

Thank God we have a great problem solver at the helm in Barack Obama to tackle these problems. It may take time, but he will resolve them.

8 years that we could have been drilling for oil in the USA, 8 years that we should have been using oil shale in the USA, all that could have been taking us off of foreign oil.

alternative energy is not a viabe option at this time, it takes alot of acres to have windmills up, and if there is no wind, the blades have to be turned by electricity.

build more nuke plants, like about 100 more.

obama is a lying ass of a president, just like all the presidents have been since fdr.

Hmmm ..... very interesting logic ????

You respond to a post which is ENTIRELY about the many mistakes made during the 8 years of Bush.

You add a few more things you would have liked to have seen happen during those same 8 years if Bush.

And you then conclude your post with "Obama is lying ass of a president".

I repeat .... very interesting logic !!!

My browser finds my above link just fine.

Try this:

TreasuryDirect (Address is h t t p : / / w w w . t r e a s u r y d i r e c t . g o v / )

And then go to the "Debt To The Penny" icon on the lower right.

The rules of the game have changed significantly under Obama...

You NEVER would have seen proposed tigher regulations of Wall Street and the entire financial sector had McCain been in office... He would have simply called for more tax breaks for the rich, balanced by spending cuts for programs that benefit the middle class - which is exactly what Republicans have been doing for 30 year.

Obama is going to fix this God awful mess he inherited, and turn the economy and the country around and in the right direction again.

And for those who are complaining about the increase in national debt - WHERE WAS YOUR VOICE WHILE BUSH WAS IN OFFICE???

Obama inherited a $1.2 Trillion deficit thanks to Bush... and a wrecked economy thanks to Bush...

He will fix it though - and then - maybe then - the extreme right wing will be completely marginalized... Oh, they will still throw their daily temper tantrums - but no-one but them will be listening.

Almost two years later and I have to laugh when I read this post.

It's the holy grail of comedy for those of us that recognize there is very very little difference between the political parties.

Has Bush left the White House yet? It's hard to tell.
