i can't believe that ron paul isn't even on the list! i would like to see ron paul pick a blue dog democrat for his running mate and then we would have a serious contender.
mccain is a non-starter. palin, huckabee, and giuliani could not win before so their value would be primarily as endorsers of the eventual nominee. charlie crist is a RINO so he couldn't even get republicans to vote for him.

Dennis Kucinich was on Ron Paul's short list for VP candidates, although Kucinich is not a Blue Dog.
I don't think Wyden, Richardson, Schweizer, Tester, etc. would bolt the Democratic Party.

That didn't stop Richard Nixon and Ronald Reagan.
Rudy's personality is very Nixonian and if he wins the NY gubernatorial election in 2010, as he is expected to do, he will have pulled off the biggest comeback in US politics since Tricky Dicky. So I wouldn't rule him out as a nominee at all, especially with some southerner as VP. Rudy's first choice for a VP if he'd got the 2008 nomination was Fred Thompson. If he got the 2012 nomination, he wouldn't pick Fred (as Fred's older than Rudy) but he'd probably pick some younger Southerner.
I would prefer a Republican ticket composed of the candidates most likely to lose. I can only hope they pick a failed banker to run with the Governess of Alaska.
I choose Huckabee but idk if thats who I'll go with in 12. Huckabee would have been the right opposition to spar with Obamessiah this past election- he is way more charismatic then McCain and certainly would have given Obamessiah a run for his money.
I do like much of what Huckabee says but I think that we need to look at who our opposition will be then. Yes, its likely the HIGH PRIEST OF HOPE AND CHANGE will be looking for re-election but if he keeps going in the direction he's going he won't have a snowballs chance in hell at getting the bid.
So I think that while we need to look at the politics of our candidates, we also need to look at who is well equipped to deal with the opposition. We made a bad choice in choosing McCain to deal with Obamessiah.
Beyond all of that, I like Jindal but it doesn't look like he's looking for the bid. He's more into 2016 for the white house.
Hell.....If we don't have a solid choice in 2012 my slogan may just be "Anyone but Obama 2012"
