Wrong! It is Capitalism that requires robots. Why? Because robots only do what they are told to do. They don't complain, they don't question and they never strive to be more than what they already are. Robots cannot think for themselves and are therefore perfectly accepting of whatever is given to them. In short, they are the perfect workers.

Here are two websites dedicated to a Socialist critique of Capitalism. I highly recommend that people check them out if they are truly interested in understanding Socialism.

Marxists Internet Archive This is a complete archive on Socialist works. It is an exceedingly huge library. Check out its encyclopedia for quick references if you like.

Youth for International Socialism - Marxism FAQ This is a Marxist FAQ. Get your knowledge straight "from the horses mouth" instead of right-wing American radio, you'll be a better person for it.

Isnt Italy & Canada considered Socialist? Maybe I'm wrong? Anyway, as i said before my relatives in those countries are packing up to move here because they say they are taxed to death! My relative who needed brain surgery in Italy was on a waiting list for 11 mnths! He had to fly to Chicago USA! To have the surgery before it was too late. They claim theres to much government involved in your entire life with socialism. Now i havent lived in those places, but i believe it cant be so great after from hearing it from 10-17 people who i know well!

I say deport all the Illegals- they broke the law and dont pay taxes anyway! So why should they be here? So by ridding America of all of them will save us tons of cash!

Empty our prisons- if your on death row, no wait! Fry them tomorrow! All of them! Why wait 10-12 years? Waste of our tax dollars!

Get the troops home but send plenty to the borders!!!

Forget another bailout! Make people responsible for their actions!

End of thread for me!

I posted this on another thread and it seems appropriate here, so I'll share it with y'all:

As long as people are thinking in terms of left/right paradigms, and fighting and pointing fingers at each other, the real power players will have their way. It's the classic "divide and conquer".

The U.S. is actually an experiment as to how well humans can govern themselves - it's really not about big government, but about self-government. Many of the concepts presented in the U.S. Constitution were actually taken from the Iroquois Confederacy of Nations. You might want to check out http://ipoaa.com/iroquois_constitution.htm and http://ipoaa.com/iroquois_constituti...ted_states.htm

Since its inception, the U.S. experiment has been under attack by those initially based in Europe who were possessed by greed and lust for power. A study of the Rothschild family will reveal much.

What most people who support socialist, marxist, communist, and all the other "ists" don't realize, is that all of Life, every cell of Life, in all its varied forms, is imbued with the Spirit of Freedom; for all comes from Freedom, was created Freely, to be Free. And this continent in particular, has the blood and bones of people who lived freely not that long ago, embedded into the ground everyone is walking on. The Free Spirit of those ancestors has not been silenced. Many still walk the Sacred places. There is another dimension besides the one you see with your eyes.

The struggle of humanity is a long one - those who want to be free and happy, and the schoolyard bullies who want to control others and take what they want from them. What's even more disgraceful are those who would use "the government" to bully others and take from them what they want for themselves. That's the dilemma this country has been in since its inception and still is struggling with today - those who want to use the government to take from others what they want for themselves, because they are unwilling to work for it themselves - so they "elect" bullies to "represent" them at the schoolyard fight. That's why the corruption of politicians is so rampant - most are nothing but schoolyard bullies for hire - even the female ones.

All sorts of noble sounding labels are used to justify "social programs", but the reality is, "charity" is not truly "charity" if it is forced - it's "tyranny". And each person thus becomes enslaved by "big brother". "Big brother" enslaves when it forcibly takes from some, and "big brother" enslaves as people become dependent on it, looking for it to solve their problems. Each time "big brother" forcibly takes from one and gives to another, it robs each person of the ability to meet the challenges of Life and the opportunity to develop the spirit of Love and Caring within them. No one, and no government, can force the spirit of Love and Charity into another. It is developed from within, as each opportunity to express it is met.

The reality is, the struggle will go on until each person truly realizes that they are a Free being and what an awesome responsibility and power that is. How invigorating it can be.

It is for want of "things" that people enslave themselves and each other, and none of it, truly satisfies the soul, brings Peace to the heart and mind.

All the politico's, with their books, articles, blogs, finger pointing, lobbyists, law making, oppressive frenzy, ... will never be the answer, will never come up with the correct answer for another person. For the answer to each person's happiness and destiny lies within themselves. It's not through a government bail out, government grant, government education, government health care, government trade agreement, government official, ... that a boy becomes a real man, or that a girl becomes a real woman.

As long as Americans look to government to solve their problems, to insulate them from the challenges of Life that make them real whole persons, there will be strife in this nation.

"God Bless the Child that's got his own."

-------- end of my previous post --------

I'll also add that in a free society, people are free come together to engage in certain activities that may be of mutual benefit ("social" activities such as hunting, constructing a building or road together, planting, canning the harvest together, etc.), or even for the benefit of one or others (aka charity). What makes that kind of society so beautiful and works so well is that it is the choice of those particular individuals to engage in those particular activities. Point being - it is done FREELY - with no "big brother" government forcing itself (incarceration, fees, fines, taxes, etc.) or the will of others upon anyone. It is that "forcing" that is repugnant to all of the Life Force, which is why those who have not been "tamed" to "conform" to government and social engineering are so adamant about Freedom, Liberty, and Rights, and why the foundational laws of the U.S. are what make this country so unique and special.

I read somewhere that nations decline once 60% of the population becomes dependent upon the government. I heard about a year ago that the U.S. has about 45% of its population dependent on the government. I imagine that with all the recent layoffs and closures, and expanding federal government, the percentage is greater now. There will come a point when the government will no longer be able to support such a large dependency. And while as individuals, we may be predisposed to help a fellow human being who approaches us in person with their need, I don't know of too many who are so inclined to help a forceful intruder/thief. Most people would consider anyone who forcibly takes what they want from others to be a thief. If the rule applies to individuals, it should also apply to governments who act on behalf of individuals. Stealing is stealing, whether it is one person doing it, or a whole gang who calls itself "government" doing it. That's why socialist/communist governments are so repugnant to truly Free beings, and to the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution - both, the foundational laws of this country.

If people want to live under socialist/communist governments, they have a huge array of choices all over the world. There is only ONE country founded on the principles of respecting individual Liberty, and once it's gone, there will be nowhere for Free beings to go. So I say to all you who want to change this country to a socialist/communist regime - what gives you the right to take away the last opportunity I have to live in a country that honors my inherent, God-given right to be a FREE BEING? Free of living up to your personal (and usually selfish) desires, free of living to satisfy your personal whims/designs?

I, A FREE BEING, AM AN ENDANGERED SPECIES!!!

Where's the law to protect me?

In the U.S. Constitution.

How sad for the world, and yourself, if you should destroy it.

For once it's gone, even if you should realize the error of your ways, repent, and want it, and your Liberty back, it may not be without tremendous bloodshed, as the monstrous government you created will not so easily give back what you so recklessly tossed away.

It is the ungrateful and unwise immature brat that tosses diamonds, even if they be rough, away - for a sparkly bit of plastic.

Again, if people want to live in a socialist/communist regime, please go somewhere else and enjoy yourself with others of like mind. All I ask is that you leave the last bastion of Freedom alone for those who want to live with more Freedom than you do.

and socialism is normally an economic thing that usually leads to failure because there is no need to succeed. Nice try, though

In communist countries you are enslaved by the State. In capitalist countries you are enslaved by the economy and the employers. In socialist countries you are free to work for yourself without worrying about starving outside in the dark.

Guess which I prefer?

Here’s a few that have worked for a long time:
40 hour work weekend (overtime after 40 hours)
Social Security
Medicare
Firefighters (Chicago used to have private firefighters)
Police
Public schools with their “free” school buses
Government medical research (http://www.nih.gov/)

This Republic was built on a respect and belief in individualism. Competition in the private sector is what makes businesses and individuals successful, not government takeover, bailouts or social programs. You can't mandate self respect and the feeling of accomplishment of a self made person.

The left, as in communism or socialism, has no respect for the individual and thinks of people only in terms of groups. They don't believe in competition instead believing that people should be entitled to a job, home, etc. They also believe in the redistribution of wealth, which punishes people of accomplishment and rewards those that don't or won't take the initiative to better their own lives.

I hope that this country never disintegrates into that kind of despair. We're a stronger nation than that and government control over our lives is unacceptable.

The smallest minority on earth is the individual. Those who deny individual rights cannnot claim to be defenders of minorities...Ayn Rand
