This is really hilarious. But I do think it's important to recognize that dressing up and acting out are important human rituals. Lots (maybe all) cultures have these in some way or another. We like carnivals for a reason.

It seems possible that these types of elections could be occurring every year for many years to come. It's a perverse idea, but if this is going to be the case every year, Election Day could also come to be known as:
Anti-Gay Day
Straight Pride Day
Straight Rights Day
Hetero Normative Day...
and so on.

What I don't understand is WHY people are allowed to vote on issues of RIGHTS??????
This is why we have courts and Judges who decided the merits of these laws based on Law and without "prejudice".
In the 50s if you asked people to allow interracial marriages in the south, I bet many Southerners would've voted no back then.
Civil Right Issues should NOT be left to the voters. Most are ignornant on the subject and law and most do not vote without prejudice.

I wonder what the percentage of hetero women that dress like "sexy nurse", "sexy kitten", "sexy devil", "sexy angel", "sexy pumpkin" is during Halloween? I'd say pretty dang high & they all look like sluts, don't they? But I digress, it's only the gays who look like skin flint sluts.

Oh, I agree, by all means.
Personally, I don't really care one way or the other on the issue ... and I think it's because of this that I sometimes get drawn into some of those types of discussions.
My theory is such that says these "others" .. who are older incidently, might be looking at all of this from a civil rights prospective, in that the marches of the 60's pretty much stopped after LBJ did his thing. Not that gay parades are marches by any stretch, but I think that there are those who might view them as such .. thus, expecting the "parade" to stop, once gays got what they wanted.
At least that's the impression I've gotten ..

Actually, it wasn't until the 1990s that a majority of Americans approved even of interracial marriage. I wonder if the people who think same-sex marriage should be illegal until a majority approves of it also believe that interracial marriage should have been illegal until the 1990s.
Most Americans Approve of Interracial Marriages

Ah, I see. That makes a little sense, at least.
They must not realize that the parades have morphed from civil rights marches to something more like a festival.

Peoples sexual preference, should be private, and receive no special treatment, one way or the other.

True, which is why marriage should be for all regardless of their sexual orientation.

That's right, and that's why same-sex couples and opposite-sex couples should have the same status when it comes to being recognized by the government.
