This is where the real civil was is. Within the Democrat party.

Oh they are already pumped about almost winning. This isn't going away.
These extremists are going to challenge moderate GOP members from Maine to San Diego....and they'll wind up splitting their ticket.
In all reality it would have been even better had Hoffman won. They would be attacking moderates even more so.

Ummm California was not a loss, it was a Democrat seat.
You ought to tell Rham Emanuel NJ and Va. governorships mean nothing. LOL

Yep, I was having similar thoughts. Plus, that district is going to disappear after the 2010 Census.

Don't get too excited it is happening on your side too. The left wing of your party cannot stand the Blue dogs. They will either put up candidates against them or stay home. 40 seats could easily change hands in 2010.

I wasn't getting excited. I was just calmly voicing my opinion.

Ok, in any event I think the extremes in both parties are going to demand purity and it will be to the benefit of Republicans since there are more conservative Dems elected in conservative districts than liberal Republicans serving in liberal districts. Or put a less convoluted way, there are more conservative Dems that can be targeted by the liberals, than liberal Republicans who can be targeted by the conservatives.

We'll see. I sense that there's more rancor on the Republican side and a quest for purity in their candidates than there is on the Democratic side, but of course, you and I aren't looking at the landscape from the same vantage point.

Not much of an opinion right now. I've really liked Schwarzenegger - I know I'm in the minority on that, however. I almost feel like California is a different country from the rest of the U.S., so it's not so easy to choose a candidate based on the political party alone.
