The dems want to delay it if a Republican wins...

But they can't come out and say that directly. It was the guy in charge of elections who said that and it was very generic, iffy and wishy washy on certifying and seating. Very see through too.

When Obama spoke out against Special Interests in legislation.. what does he do? He tries to get the support of special interest of unions... huh? Healthcare reform requires congressmen and senators, not special interests... he is being a failure of his own promises... what a loser...

1) Go to get Olympics .... lost

2) Go to get the Green Energy BS .... lost

3) Rah-rah for the Democratic Governors .... lost

That's three strikes already... but oh well, he rewrites his own rules all the time... liberals give him an extra swing at it...

Its the wind-up.... The Pitcher throws a Coakley Curve Ball... Obama swings! Wait till Jan. 19th and find out if he is a loser or a chance at redemption...

He wasn't wishy washy at all. What he said was Senate rules are very black and white when it comes to sitting someone. Before someone can be seated in the Senate it needs to be officially certified. Any races can't be officially certified until all the absentees are in all in and counted which takes a few weeks

That's the wishy washy part.

January 19th special election in Massachusetts - a sign of things to come? - Living Lake Country
Scott Brown swearing-in would be stalled to pass health-care reform - BostonHerald.com

They will do whatever it takes to keep the Dem that's there now in his seat until the healthcare bill is passed. 10 days (absentee ballots) from 1/19 is 1/29..so why the 2/20 date ?

Because it typically takes weeks to count the absentee ballots. These aren't the typical machine counts, which are usually able to be done in a matter of hours. You will have tens of thousands of individual ballots to count, takes time. We had an election here last year which came down to absentee ballots and a recount. The Democrat was winning on Election Day, it was not until ore than a full month after that the absentee ballots were all counted and it was officially certified.

I am a newcomer in USA politics, but I have already understood that endorsements usually not only don't work but sometimes they backfire...

I also understood the "loser" factor, when a candidate ...runs to lose,as Mccain in Prez 2008 race...

Also the individualism factor...

An American will make his own decision, regardless of pressure by family,friends,etc...

He may even lie to wife & family to please them, but secretly he will vote whoever he likes...

And one more American characteristic...Volatility...

"Easy " to vote in,easy to vote out... for 90% of the voters...They kiss him today, they kick him tomorrow...

The rest 10% are "cult of personality " voters, lifetime voters of Kennedys,Browns,Udalls,Daileys etc...

The most stable parameter of USA politics is...instability...

The absentee ballots only matter if the margin of the winner is less than the total of absentees. And even then the absentees usually mirror the regular vote percentages.

That is true, however Senate rules mandate that the Sec of State must officially certify the results prior to someone being seated, and by law that can not be done until all the absentees are counted.
