Gay super heroes have been around since the 80's. In the 50's Batman & Robin had unintentional gay relationship as Batwoman was a respected lesbian.
Northstar of the Xmen was first openly gay character. ' The Green Lantern' head of the Rainbow brigade.
Are you trying to pretend that your only issue was with token characters as well? Because that is not what you've been saying.
You are stating that a gay superhero is 'silly'by virtue of existing and there is no need for any superhero to be gay. It's no sillier than a black superhero. And there is a need for it, just as there is a need for black superheroes. The problem is only in making 'black' or 'gay' the defining character trait. Again, the fact that Archie comics managed to have a gay character with other traits and a full storyline and Marvel and DC have not is embarrassing. It isn't 'silly' for Archie comics to have a integrated gay character.
And while I dislike Marvel using this press and pushing Northstar to the background time and again, I'd still rather have a token than no representation at all. Integrated characters have to start somewhere.
That is under your account! Within this thread the point is not to appease "just because"! Lastly, the use of silly within my post was not geared toward the Comic. Enjoy our Holiday.

True...your use of the word silly was geared toward all gay superheros, not this particular comic.
And you were the one who stated there is no need for gay superheroes, period, and no demand. As in:

I do not feel the need to make a lane where one is not in demand! What's next gay windows,Toolsets, or deodorant?
Totally not a dig at homosexuals just my statement.
Well I sure would like a gay main character in a major universe, so there's your demand. Moreover, there's no reason NOT to have one. It isn't at all the same thing as a toolset marketed toward gays.
A separate tool set assumes that gays are somehow 'different'. It's setting them apart.
A superhero who happens to be gay assumes that gays are people, just like everyone else. It assumes that just as superheroes can be black, straight, use a wheelchair, etc, they can also be gay.

How could you be so sure?
Show the word silly within my post geared toward this Superhero. You should not ASSume.

You are correct on Archie comics. In life with Archie issue 202 Kevin Keller comes back from the Army and announces his wedding to Mr Right.
The issue sold out so they had to reprint the first time they had to do that.
I was correct on speculation on the Green Lantern the original Alan Scott is expexcted to be outed in next month issue. The Green Lantern alter ego Hal Jordan will remain straight, this is the one Ryan Reynolds portrays in the film.
So I happned to be at my local comic shop. They had about 50 of them on the stands. Apparently no one is buying and who can blame them. Its not to appease gay people, its just another stupid attempt to boost sales by marvel.
Annd by the way there are a handful of gay super heroes(popular ones)already, yet they dont feel the need to publicize it in news.
