OK - here's a phrase that really bugs me - not as much a phrase as an erroneous qualifier:
When people involved in an argument make their point by saying, "I'm sorry, but...[enter point here]". It's the equivalent of the sarcastic, "Uh...Hello?" not an actual apology - so what are people so sorry about? That they disagree? No.
So, if you are not actually apologizing, then stop beginning argument points with "Sorry, but.."!!
Internet and text message lingo (misspellings) and street slang used by teens, who turn in their homework the same way. It all contributes to the dumbing down of America.
I do admit to using 'not so much' and 'good times' (as in, 'my 2 year old got four shots today....good times...'
irregardess drives me insane, simply because its NOT A WORD!
also, people who use 'at' at the end of a sentence...ie: where you at?
at is a dangling participle, and participles SHOULD NEVER DANGLE!
also (the grammar nazi in me coming out):
effect vs affect. IF you are unsure, find a different word
theres dozens others, but that's on the tip of my mind....know what I mean?
HAHAHA
