Suzanne Sommers from Three's Company's fame. Her career was on the ascendancy when her husband took over the role of her agent and then went on to completely alienate nearly everyone in the TV industry. She lost her role and has been ostrisized from the industry ever since. Most people only know her from the "Thigh Master" commercials and a few books she wrote.

Good list! I always thought it was strange that Winona Ryder's shoplifting bust seemed to have ended her career. Yes, it's illegal, but it wasn't like she killed someone...

Bette Midler comes to mind. Also, Danny DeVito and his wife, Rhea Perlman. After their smash hits, most of their subsequent roles were pretty luke warm to blah. Being I was in my teens in the late 70s/early 20s in the 80s, most of those I have in mind are from that time of my life (when I actually watched TV). It seems a lot of TV actors (who moved on to movies) who were on fire then really fizzled out f a s t. Others that come to mind from that era and beyond are: David Soul, Paul Michael Glaser, Kate Smith, Cybil Shepherd, Whoopi Goldberg, Daryl Hannah, Macaulay Culkin, Carrie Fisher, Ralph Macchio, Henry Winkler, Bronson Pinchot, and pretty much everyone from the The Cosby Show.

Some would say Shirley Jones, she was big in musicals (Oklahoma, Carousel, Music Man) and acting in movies, then took the Partridge family Mom role... Hollywood thought she was lowering herself.

now she is best know by younger generations by that role! Who didn't love Mrs. Partridge?

Costner was pretty good as "Devil Anse" Hatfield on the History Channel's Hatfields & McCoys miniseries earlier this year.
