I don't have one favourite actor, but several do stand out:

Jimmy Stewart. His acting was sublime. The scene in "It Was A Wonderful Life" where he slowly breaks down at the local bar, absolutely mesmerized me:

Tom Hanks. I have yet to see a movie with Tom Hanks that I didn't love, simply to enjoy his acting alone.

Katherine Hepburn. She was electric, lit up the screen and delivered performances that you couldn't not watch.

Leonardo DiCaprio. I think the moment I realized just how amazing this guy is as an actor was the day I saw "What's Eating Gilbert Grape". Super performance...not any actor could pull off what he did.

Sean Penn. I haven't seen too much of his work, but what I have seen was powerful, gripping.

Matt Damon. I love his movies simply because he comes across as so...real. Versatile. Emotional.

Glenn Close. Another tour-de-force. I esp. loved her performance in "Fatal Attraction" (she plays crazy very well), she was brilliant as a woman playing a man in "Albert Nobbs", was a hoot in "Mars Attacks".

Jack Nicholson. Talented, amazing, never ever gave a dull performance.

Tom Cruise. Say what you will about his personal controversies, but this guy is a great actor. "A Few Good Men" was on the other day and I have to say, the courthouse scene with him and Nicholson was still as captivating as ever. The exchange between Tom and Jack is well worth watching:

There are so, so many others out there worth mentioning, but one more actor I absolutely loved, and really really miss, was this man:

The world lost an amazing comic, actor, and humanitarian the day we lost Robin Williams.

No particular male
Faye Dunaway. Unquestionably the best actress ever. (And Hollywood knows it but will never admit it)
