The second. Temporary loss of consciousness.

I’ve been doing this since I was a kid. Didn’t know people couldn’t do it.

I recall hearing Leonard Nimoy say he got the idea because that’s how his rabbi used to hold his hands while he was addressing the congregation.

Edit, found it....

Love this:

Aww, the video won't play for me. Nimoy grew up in the North End of Boston where my friends and I hung out when we were kids.

It's actually a Jewish symbol, which you'll see over many synagogue arks (where they keep the Torah) - including the one at my childhood temple, so that's where I first saw it! According to chabad.org: "the Vulcan salute is an authentic imitation of the manner by which Cohanim spread their hands in most congregations when blessing the congregation to this day."

https://www.chabad.org/library/artic...ish-Symbol.htm

And yes, that is where Leonard Nimoy (who is Jewish) got the idea. I'm still laughing at the OP Googling how to do this, because it's not something a computer can teach anyone... just like rolling your tongue, either you can do it or you can't! Maybe you could train your fingers, like practicing how to rub your head + pat your belly at the same time, but it's still not anything Google could help.

And for the record, I can easily do it - not because I'm Jewish (lol), but I am also the type who can wiggle my ears & make flower shapes with my tongue. So I just have flexible extremities!
